After convening in Oaxaca city at your designated spot, we’ll embark on a journey to my hometown, which is approximately an hour and 15 minutes away. Upon arrival, my mother will welcome you with a scrumptious breakfast of chocolate and bread.
Energized from breakfast, my mother and I will guide you through the entire tortilla-making process, from shelling the corn to kneading the dough, and ultimately, cooking and savoring the tortillas.
When it’s time for lunch, you’ll assist in crafting a salsa as my mother prepares a spread of fresh dishes, including quesadillas, eggs cooked on a comal, memelitas, and refreshing juice. Additionally, you’ll gain insights into the culture and traditions of my village.
After a day brimming with adventure and learning, you’ll head back to the city.
