Fantastic Birthday Idea - All 15 of us were able to steer the ship during our trip. Everyone had a chance to raise the sails if they wanted to. Crewmen were great and gave us a brief overview of the American Cup ship. We highly recommend this cruise.

A Must Do while in the Bay area - As lifelong sailors, we enjoyed our time on this well-maintained and expertly crewed vessel. The opportunity to experience hands on participation is a memory we will share for a lifetime. Thank you

Thrilling sail around SF Bay - A real racing boat (in it's day) - it was fun and exciting. Once sail was up and boat got up to speed, it was full tilt and really gave me the feel of moving fast and the effort rquired to keep it going. I volunteered to work the "coffee grinders" to help tighten/loosen sails, while others steered or took up lines. Beautiful views of SF, but the real thrill was feeling the power of the wind in the sails, including boat tilting 25 degrees plus. Appr 2.5 hours on the water. Full disclosure, no bathrooms on board. My girlfriend loved it too!

Authentic sailing experience in a thoroughbred racing yacht - I have sailed for many years and most 'tourist' sailing attractions are a tour round the harbour in a catamaran with the headsail up to create the right impression. This is NOT. This is a fully rigged America's Cup racing boat with the original mast and a big mainsail. You get to work the coffee grinder winches and steer and it is amazing. Or you can sit and joy a unique experience. The crew really know what they are doing and are friendly and informative. There is nothing to compare with the feeling of power while steering a boat like this to windward. Highly recommended for everyone from experienced sailors to non-sailors. . Dont miss it.

Phenomenal experience! - Had the most fantastic morning with the crew and other guests! The crew ensured we all participated, provided plenty of laughter and at times were photographers! The yacht itself was gorgeous and Peter provided an excellent talk about it and it’s competing history.

Do Not Buy Ticket Early - I was in San Francisco the weekend of Sept. 13-15th and booked a ride on the America’s Cup boat 76 through ACSailing. It was to be one of the highlights of my trip, I am a big fan of the America’s Cup. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. I woke up that morning to a “small craft advisory” and only 9 people booked for the ride (8 is the minimum). This gave me concern but the company sent nothing out to cancel the ride. Upon arrival our numbers grew to 13, but when we reached the boat the captain informed us that “due to the weather” we would only be using the jib, no mainsail. This initially seemed reasonable but after we got out onto the water it was clear that the weather had nothing to do with not using the mainsail–that decision was more likely due to the fact the captain only had 2 crew members instead of the normal 4 and neither crew member was very experienced. While we were sailing this 90 ft. boat with just a jib, a large sailing regatta was occuring with boats much smaller but all with both a full main (not reefed) and jib, even flying a spinnaker downwind under the same “small craft advisory”. To make matters worse, I reached out to the company the next day and never received any type of response, my email was ignored. While I am sure that this experience for many is exhilarating, that would most likely include the use of the mainsail. My suggestion is to hold off on booking this ride until you are sure of the weather and likely guest count. Maybe this way you can get a full crew and the full experience, but understand the company is not going to respond to any concerns you may have...my guess is they don’t count on repeat customers!
