If you love modern art, do not miss this museum. - Best modern art museum I've ever visited. Several floors, lots of interactive stuff, amazing Yayoi Kusama installation. Bonus: kids under 18 are free!

Excellent museum - even if you don’t like modern art! - I’m not a huge fan of modern art but I thoroughly enjoyed the SF MOMA! There are lots of interesting pieces and exhibits - many of which challenge perspectives and invoke marvel at the creativity of the artists - I had a great time - very impressive! The museum is several stories and each level has numerous exhibits of varying art mediums from paintings and drawings to sculptures and photographs and everything in between. Some of the exhibits are interactive- such as their famous “pumpkin” piece or the popular, colorful retro-bridge you can walk through and look down on the lobby three stories beneath your feet! From the lobby floor you can also look up and see the people walking across - I loved it! Be sure not to miss out on the art displays in their numerous gardens too - there are some truly unique pieces there. One of them even had several uncanny head sculptures that made you feel like you are walking through a Tim Burton movie lol. The layout of the exhibits and pieces is very thoughtful and well done - creating a nice flow as you move from space to space and leaving enough room for the crowds to move through easily. There are ample opportunities to sit on benches and contemplate the art laid out before you. Staff were friendly and helpful. They have a cafe with indoor and patio seating on site. Tickets are $30 for adults at the time of this writing which is a little pricey but there’s so much to see and it’s so well curated - I’d say the price is justified. Some of the hotels nearby offer their guests free tickets - I stayed at the W by Marriott right next door and they gave me two free tickets so that was a huge score! Parking in the area is all paid - either street or public garages, is expensive and a huge headache so I recommend avoiding it if at all possible. The surrounding area is a tad sketchy as well and I personally wouldn’t want to park on the street. Just be vigilant and careful where you park. Definitely a great museum stop if you’re exploring the city - and especially if you’re a fan of modern art.

Quantity and Quality - Big and diverse. If you are not a member a four hour stay would not cover it all. Friendly docents, peaceful architecture and tons to see

A gorgeous modern art museum - It's a 7-story building with modern art on display on each floor and on the terrace, so it's quite enjoyable. It might be a good idea to take the elevator up to the 7th floor first and then slowly work your way down. It's quite a bit of walking, but there are so many exhibits that it will take about 2-3 hours even if you look at it at a good pace.

Just terrific! - Absolutely wonderful art work throughout, if you like contemporary art. We were in awe by their amazing 6th floor which featured modern German artists. Terrific collection of about 8 Anselm Kiefers, as well as others. A real surprise was this German woman artist who did this outstanding series of photos about fans for featuring about 6 music groups like the Grateful Dead, Abba, Britney Spears--so interesting how that came about. We weren't impressed with their sculpture gallery--was expecting so much more. Rreally enjoyed their 2nd floor, which is free to the public. Some really terrific pieces in there. Don't miss this one!

A gorgeous modern art museum. - 25 USD gets you into what is probably the best museum in town. We spent over 2 hours enjoying the modern art displays throughout the museum, which vary from stunning to bizarre. Skip the Grace restaurant in the museum, as it's expensive and the food isn't great.

Great Way To Spend a Couple Hours - I'll start off by saying that Art Museums are not my thing. I have this 4 stars because I know it's a great art museum even if I don't enjoy all the exhibits. This place is huge! 7 floors. Easy to kill an hour or two here. Wide open spaces and thought-provoking art in a wide range of styles. A treat for almost all the senses.

Interesting museum in an interesting city - Interesting museum, especially if you are a European who does not have such an intensive access to American modernism

Do not go to this art gallery! - Worst art gallery ever. Half the paintings are just some person scribbling with no meaning. Waste of money and time. Do better
