Most Memorable Excursion - This tour left a lasting impression on us, and we will continue to talk about it for days to come. Our sincerest and deepest gratitude to Hector for guiding us skillfully through ATM and sharing his own connection to Mayan history. As the only non-swimmer in the group, Hector kept a close watch on me. The cave was vast, and yet Hector guided us through every small step and crevice to get us through safely. While other cave excursions throw in a bit of history and lore, this ATM experience gave it all. We came out proud for overcoming physical challenges and fears, and with a deep respect and awe of Mayan history, as well as archaeological discovery. Thank you also to Reuben in San Ignacio, who encouraged us to take this tour by taking the time to address our concerns. He literally invited us to sit down to talk through options. No other tour group spent that time with us. In the world of customer service, Reuben is just superb. P.S. No photos allowed on the ATM tour, sadly!

Excellent half day tour in the ATM caves - The tour was awesome! It was a bit more difficult to get through the cave than I expected but well worth the effort. The guide, who had been doing this tour for 20 years, was terrific. He was very helpful for those who had trouble in some areas and explained the artifacts and Mayan beliefs very well. The tour did get a little crowded as other groups moved through faster but it was not a big deal. The lunch they provided was great as well. We had buffet style BBQ chicken with beans and rice and plantains - a local favorite. This tour company was the only one that worked with me as an individual passenger. John helped me get the ATM tour on Tuesday and then saw me walking around on Wednesday and set me up with another tour (next review). Other places promised to email or Whatsapp when something became available - but none did. Sorry, no pics. We could not take phones / cameras due to some previous artifact damage.

Great private experience! - Our guide, Hector, was really great! We ended up being just the two of us with him while other companies had big groups of 8 people. Also, we were first in the cave which gave us privacy and a much better experience since we were alone for 40 minutes and more. We really appreciated the driver, Wayne, he really went beyond for our lunch break and it was appreciated. Really great tour overall would recommend!

Once in a lifetime experience of the Mayan way of life and rituals- AMAZING - This is a must-do Mayan can experience in Belize and I'd recommend it highly. Our guide Orlando did an amazing job through the tour and gave us a never to forget, once in a lifetime experience. The experience is very physical that starts with a 2 mile moderate hike where we crossed the Roaring river 3 times, maximum was chest height water but we had life jackets. The cave also has water almost through the half a mile trek inside the cave, there's a lot of boulder climbing and navigating tight spaces but all worth it if one can manage. The cave is beautiful full of amazing stalactites and stalagmites formed over thousands of years. The most amazing part is the Mayan temple in the dry chamber. It's a really sobering experience to set foot in a cave that was used by Mayans for sacrifices 1000+ years back with a lot of artifacts including human remains still intact. Orlando explained the rituals and showed us the key sites in a lot of detail. Phones and Cameras are not allowed for a very good reason but the memories of this tour and the experience is stamped in our brains forever, no pics needed.

DO THIS - Start to finish, this was one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had. It’s a swim/hike in a cave, so be prepared to squeeze through some spaces, do a bit of scrambling up/down rock, and getting wet up to your shoulders. There are only 31 certified guides in the world who can take you here and no matter who you get, they will have more than 20 years of experience because they stopped certifying new guides in 2004. Our guide— Hector— was FANTASTIC. You will be safe in his hands. You will laugh. You will learn. You will have an amazing time. Thank you Cayo Inland Expeditions!

Highlight of our trip to San Ignacio- cannot be beat! - Our tour guide, Hector, was amazing! He spent a lot of time talking about the geology of the cave, the rituals that were performed in the cave, the main people in the area and the archaeologists discoveries. We read a lot of reviews before we signed up for this tour, and the tour exceeded our expectations which were high to begin with!! Our driver was also great, and provided a lot of colorful history as we were driving to pick up Hector. The two of them were a great team! All of the river crossings and the exploration of the cave, climbing up and over rocks, and waiting through water and swimming in the cave were all spectacular!!

Awesome cave, terrible tour guide - My partner and I went on the ATM tour a few weeks ago and did not have the best experience. The day before the tour, no one from the company reached out to confirm pickup time or location. No one responded to my messages on viator so I had to call to confirm myself. The day of the tour did not get off to a great start as our tour guide, Ian, did not seem engaged from the start. He didn't introduce himself or the group, we all just got in the van and he said it was going to be an hour until we got there. From the beginning he had very curt or sarcastic responses to questions or comments the group made. He walked very far ahead of the group during the hike to the cave and didn't point out anything interesting or notable along the way. Once we were in the cave, he berated the older couple at the end of the pack for not moving as fast as he wanted them to but they were just being appropriately careful. He again would walk away from the group or start talking about a topic before everyone was caught up. In general he also didn't seem to be particularly knowledgeable about the cave or the Mayans. We could hear other tour guides that were more enthusiastic and giving more information to their groups than what we were getting. We didn't feel comfortable asking questions because we would get a very sarcastic or rude answer anytime we said anything so we stopped trying. On the way back he intentionally trailed behind the whole group and again was not engaging with us at all. The booking also said that towels were available but we had to ask for them from another group and again, got a lot of sass in return. We were very excited about this tour and our experience was definitely hampered because of our tour guide. The cave is amazing, I would love to do it over again with a tour guide who actually wants to be there.
