Highly Recommend - Our tour guide - Regge - was great! He is so knowledgeable about the history and culture of Tikal. He was patient with all our questions (there were many), and when he saw that I was excited about certain topics, he went further in-depth on those. The location itself is wonderful. This is not to be missed!

Would highly recommend! - This was my second tour out of three with MayaWalk and it was amazing just like the rest! We were picked up from our hotel bright and early and then a small group of 5 headed to the border along with the driver. MayaWalk took care of the departure fees, which was great. The transition to the driver and guide in Guatemala was great. We saw all the major highlights of Tikal and I really appreciated the additional ride up to Plaza Mayor, which saved us both time and energy. We made two stops along the way - for coffee on the way up and an amazing lunch on the way back (make sure to eat before the trip because the lunch is kinda late. There was a woman selling some food at the shop with the coffee, and we had a couple empanadas there). My only wish was that we'd made a quick stop at Lake Petén Itzá for a photo (but I never asked the guide, so I can't complain). All in all, a great trip!

Great Visit to the Past - Everything was seamless from trip departure, through the border, and returning at the end of the day. About an hour after crossing the border, you’ll pull over and give your lunch order for after the site visit. You are at the site visit for the perfect amount of time! The guide gave great information and could tell was well seasoned at this! Heading back, you’ll stop over for lunch (takes an hour). You’ll cross the border for your return and will continue to be smooth till your return. MayaWalks took care of everything, including the money for the crossing (included in your pay).

Awesome company and guides, transparent advertising, 100% recommend! - We had an amazing trip to Tikal with Maya Walk! We are often a bit skeptical of tour groups, preferring the autonomy and adventure of navigating things on our own, but the logistics of navigating the border with two young children nudged us in the direction of Maya Walk. Transportation was safe, comfortable and clean. Our guide Reggie was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Tikal and its ancient and recent history. We were super excited to see monkeys at the end of our tour! Lunch was delicious and we felt very well cared for. We enjoyed our experience with Maya walk so much (and found the pricing and experience to be 100% transparent, all border fees etc included) that we decided to uncharacteristically book another tour the next day with our family!

Wow!! - This was an unbelievable trip, border crossing was smooth and Walter and Reggie took such great care of us. Reggie was knowledgeable and caring (my daughter has a bad knee and Reggie help her along the way) and has great passion of the area and history. Besides the ruins, Reggie pointed out a family of spider monkeys, Toucan (we hear it, but was not able to see it in the trees) and ant eater.

Fun day trip to Tikal - Our day started very early in San Ignacio. We were picked up at our hotel. We had a very small group, just me, my wife and 1 other person fromt he UK. We taken to the boarder crossing into Guatemala. No issues. This tour covers the $20 fee per person to leave Belize. We met our Guatemala driver and tour guide at the boarded and switched to their van. After the crossing we encountered several issues, but not the tours fault. First there was road construction and we had to wait about 25 minutes so we could pass. Then, we learned their was a local village that was on strike and were blocking the road to Tikal. Thi swas the only way in. We learned that the people of this town wanted to get jobs at Tikal. We had to wait about an hour and a helf in the town for a government official to come and sign a proclimation that promised them jobs in the park. These was much to do while we waited but walk around this street and try to see what was going on and check out small local market that had snacks ect. The guide said they should open up after an hour or so and he was correct. If they didn't open, they would have taken us to another smaller Mayan site. I am glad the road was finally cleared. The rest of the day was good. We arrived at Tikal and the guide showed us around and told us about the different structures, took us through the forest and pointed out monkeys and birds we saw along the way. Then we got some free time to climb some of the structures and look around. We finished up and went to lunch at a nearby restaurant. lunch was included with the tour. The only issue we had that day is that since the park was closed in the morning, none of people that tyically sold water int he park were there and the tour did not provide any water. Also, even if they were selling water, we may not have been able to purcase as we did not have Guatemala money. not sure if they took US dollars or Belize currancy. Would have been nice if the tour compnay was able to provide water. Even if they charge liek $5 more for the tour. So bring plenty of water with you.

Terrific Time in Tikal - We met at the Maya Walk building in San Ignacio at 6:45am then took a very nice shuttle to the border and were walked across to our guide Christian and driver Walter. They were fantastic! Because it was a very small group (just my friend and myself as it was a weekday in what they call the slow season) they asked if we had breakfast yet. We hadn’t so they said they would stop at the best along the way. They called ahead and had a table all set for us. The traditional Guatemalan breakfast was delicious (not covered by the tour but 100% worth it if they say they have time)! We got to Tikal and Christian did an awesome job answering countless questions and explaining the history! He also gave multiple times for us to explore the different areas on our own as well and did not rush us. We left and had lunch at a beautiful spot on the way back which was very tasty! We made it back to San Ignacio around 4:15pm without a glitch. Would totally recommend this company and these guides!

Great Day Trip to Tikal - Prior to arriving in San Ignacio I booked a day trip to Tikal with Maya Walks. Sent an inquiry via email on a Sunday and they were very fast to respond with some options. After further quick correspondence the trip was reserved and paid for. Inquiry to booking within an hour. I stopped in their office in San Ignacio on Burns Street upon arrival and the staff were just as friendly and helpful in person as they are via email. The Tikal tour was perfect and went off without a hitch. A total of eight on the tour. A van collected everyone at their lodging, took us to the border, and walked us through the crossing and exchanging some money. Reggie picked us up on the other side and was to be our tour guide for the day. Along with the driver, Walter. The Tikal park is large and does involve a lot of walking, but we were never rushed and given ample opportunity to explore on our own before moving on to another section. Never rushed. The tour then stops for lunch (included) on its way back to the border. In total it's a near ten hour day, but well worth it.

Excellent tour! - All the reviews are right - this trip is very well organized and our guide, Reggie, was fabulous. The tour of the site was excellent and he spotted two species of toucans, howler and spider monkeys and several other birds that really rounded out the trip for us. It was also crazy hot and humid and he did a really great job making sure we were hydrated and feeling ok. Highly recommend!
