UNESCO World Heritage Site well worth the designation - It is an amazing trip, but also a long day as a day trip from San Ignacio. We thought we don't need much extra money for this trip so we only took a bit of cash, no cards. But you need $20 US per person exit fee at the Guatemala border; fortunately we did have that. Our guide had been doing the trip since 1987 so he knew a LOT and was very interesting.

Tikal is a must visit. - Tikal was worth the drive from San Ignacio to Tikal. Our tour guide Noel was fabulous. Very knowledgeable about the Maya culture and has been certified by the Audubon Society. Unfortunately the tour company Belize Family needs to ensure that their vehicles are safe and in working order. We were picked up in a Toyota SUV. The interior was falling apart. The driver was late because something was wrong with the transmission. Smoke was enter the cabin thru the vents, had a extremely hard time trying to roll down the windows to get air in. When we arrived at the Guatemalan we could not open the back doors. The controls and the panel on the driver side was broken. It took him about 10 minutes to finally get one door open. After we got out of the vehicle, the driver could not get back into the car. He had to crawl in thru the driver window to get the water he had for us. The driver Rosalio was embarrassed and very apologetic. He tried calling back to the officer several times to get another vehicle. He escorted us to the border. I only hope that this agency ensures that this vehicle is taken out of their fleet. They are in the business of providing transport they should ensure that they are in working order and providing safe transport.

Must see while visiting Belize region - A visit to Tikal (as well as the ATM) were recommended by friends and most travel guides. Our family, two mid-50s and teenage son, selected Belize Family based on the reviews. Our guide was Sergio, he was great, very knowledgeable, set a good pace. Day was hot for us (from the Northeast US), not for locals. Lots of climbing steps of the temples, not much shade except the paths between sites. Bring lots of water and comfortable shoes. Also bus ride is very bumpy in many spots along the way (and takes more than 2 hours overall). Lunch was very good - we had the chicken and beef fajitas. Overall enjoyable- agree with the recommendations!

Great experience!! Highly recommend! - The guides were very professional and knowledgeable. We had a great experience. They picked us up at AirBnb. Lunch was great. Be prepared if you go. You should be able to walk about 3.5 miles up and down uneven and sometimes slippery or muddy terrain. Bring bug spray, raincoat, sunscreen.... well worth it!

A must-see! - Amazing! This experience should not be missed! Our guide, Luis, was very kind and answered all our questions. The size of the tour was small enough that he catered to our needs. Our drivers were also fabulous! It would be a difficult place for small children due to the walking, and we went up and down hundreds of steops. 202 in just one set. And several others with 100 or more. We covered 5 miles during the tour. It was definitely worth it, but be advised that it is not for those in poor physical condition.

Family trip to Tikal - Sergio was our guide and he was fantastic. He was really knowledgeable about the site and the history of the Maya people who migrated to and built Tikal and what led to their relocation. He was numerous and engaged with everyone really well. Lunch was great! Tikal is a truly magical place and we saw monkeys! Would definitely recommend.

Tikal day trip from Belize - absolutely worth it - Tikal is breathtaking. Our guide was awesome. There’s several hours to explore the old city ruins. And you hike up to the top of the temples for some incredible views. We had a rainy afternoon which added to the ambience. I only wish we had more time in this mystical place.

The history of Tikal will live on. - The two tour drivers were great and the tour guide was well versed in the story of the Mayans in Tikal. It was a very long hot day with many steps but it was a wonder to behold.
