The fresh cacao seeds,... - The fresh cacao seeds, the knowledge and kindness of Mauricio and Lucy, and the making of our chocolate bars! My son had a great time and wants to do this again.

Reggie Williams Family Vacation - Had a great time learning about the cacao production and Costa Rica’s history. Lots of fun making our chocolate bars and creating our own special blend. Decorating our wrappers was just added fun! Definitely recommend!

Choc Full of Goodness! - This was a great experience from start to finish. The owner, Mauricio is an excellent teacher and his passion is poured ou into the chocolate making. He gave us a full insight into the process of chocolate making from bean to bar, and patiently guided us through making our own chocolate bars. It was an informative and fun experience, and I loved the many options for filling and topping our chocolate bars. The decorating of our own packaging is a fun finishing touch which personalizes the experience. Looking forward to eating my chokkies when I get back home and reliving the experience! I highly recommend adding this tour to your itinerary.

Great Experience! - This was such a great experience to see cacao from raw fruit to finished product and understand why genuine dark chocolate is a healthy food and why, when it is high quality it is so expensive! It was a fun class and we learned a lot. Mauricio, the guide/owner of Tapir Chocolates is very passionate about chocolate and he was an excellent teacher! We got to make 2 chocolate bars each, one filled and one just with added components.

Must Do! - This was such a great experience! Our chocolatier was knowledgeable, friendly, and just a great instructor overall. The chocolate is super tasty and the fillings were unique, so different than what you’re used to. I would 1000% recommend this experience when in San Jose! We’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Fun and unique - Even tho we had done a coffee and chocolate tour, this was completely different as we made choc bars to take away with us. Maurico is knowledgable of all things cacao and obviously enjoys sharing his craft. He was meticulous with his cleaning, and generous with his encouragement. Meeting other ‘choco lovers’ was great - lots of happy conversation. Going home with your very own delicious creations is pretty special and unique. Whether you share them or not is up to you! Currently his place is unmarked when you go there - can be uncertain to find- but they are looking at new premises in the future which hopefully will address this. Don’t miss!

Fun, informative and tasty - Absolutely a fun and informative time. Bonus, the chocolate is tasty, drinks and dinner are delicious! Such great hosts. Note, no sign saying Tapir Chocolates but host saw us and came right out. Hint, look for the yellow painted metal gates.

Nice & knowledgeable teacher - The instructor runs a chocolate factory & he is extremely knowledgeable! He reviewed the entire chocolate making process in detail. We tasted different types of chocolate & we had a chance to create our own chocolate bars. We even got to wrap & package it professionally. There’s no detail that he left out. We were worried there would not be options for us as are vegan but he had a lot of plant based chocolate & fillings. When looking for the place, look for the yellow gates.

Great class - For the class I was the only one there, but it was a fun experience. It was very informational, the history of chocolate, and the indigenous people's discovery and chocolate, then to the chocolate making process and tasting. Then making a chocolate bar. 10/10 would recommend.
