I'll just keep going with GUAN!!! - On this trip to Guatemala, I went birding with Benjamín of GUAN 3 times, making a total thus far of 6 excursions. Each time I am left very satisfied! This time I returned to both Rey Tepepul (where we enjoyed an extended siting of a male Quetzal!) and Tarrales. We also went to Chuirixamolo. I think my favorite destination is Tarrales, as there are so many types of wildlife. The only place I've ever seen agoutis (those curious little mammals) has been in Tarrales. Benjamín is always patient and interested as I try to identify plants and butterflies there. Tarrales is also the least demanding physically as it's relatively flat. The creeks and lagoon lend it a very tranquil feel.
As always, Benjamín's knowledge is vast and impressive and his patience as I struggle to see the birds is apparently inexhaustible. Fortunately, his equipment is very helpful for seeing the winged wonders!

Enjoyable birding in the city - Even though in the city of SanJuan, we saw 26 species of birds. Our guide was excellent and, the group very small (just me). This is a wonderful birding opportunity for solo travelers looking for a simple bird watching opportunity.

Experienced birder - we saw a lot and learned alot - Excellent birding tour near the lake. We saw 26 species in about an hour and took many good quality photos through the scope. Edgar knew the birds well and explained differences between related species and migration patterns (where applicable). He was also knowledgeable on ecological and cultural issues. In short, he was a nice, articulate guy with a multitude of knowledge.

Excellent quetzal viewing tour. - I recommend Benjamin 100% for bird watching. Today I visited the Mirador Rey Tepepul reserve with transportation from San Juan included. Together with Cruz they guided an excellent tour. They gave us information about birds in general and finally we saw two quetzals:) I would definitely hire this service again. Thank you so much!

10/10 day in San Juan! - We did the birdwatching tour in San Juan with Benjamin, followed by breakfast and a cultural tour around the town. He was incredibly knowledgable about the birds and the Mayan culture due to him having lived in San Juan his whole life, and we had many interesting conversations with him. He was a lovely tour guide and I cannot recommend it enough!

Unforgettable experience - Benjamin was muy tranquilo and knowledgeable. It was an unforgettable experience. I was enchanted by the beauty and serenity of the Guatemala cloud forest and its wildlife. Thanks to Benjamin expertise, we were fortunate enough to observe a Quetzal. I will DEFINITELY return and request Benjamin as my guide. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.
