Frutera Flores - 2nd Meetup location on the way to the forest: This rustic fruit stand, food kiosk, and gift shop is a local favorite for a 20-minute roadside quick stop. This planned stop allows for the purchase of tropical fruit, which is packed and later handled on the trail by the guide to be served as a tropical snack. Guests with their own transportation can meet the group here.
Convenient Food stop: Enjoy Grandma’s cooking with options like ribs, rotisserie chicken, rice and beans, yuca, stews, seafood, and more, available from a quick-serve window to place on to-go trays. Try the local fritters, alcapurria, empanadillas, along with a tropical fruit smoothie.
This is a planned brief last-minute food and bathroom break opportunity for those who woke up late and missed breakfast. It’s advisable to have spending money on hand for this stop.
- El Yunque National Forest - El Yunque: Features a variety of waterfalls, natural pools, vibrant flowers, tropical large-leaf foliage, pristine freshwater rivers, streams, and small non-threatening wildlife. This is the most popular spot for average to advanced hikers. Expect to encounter mud, water, and rock surfaces most of the time. Climb up to a well-placed rope swing, slide down a natural waterslide, jump from cliff edges into deep natural pools, and swim. These adventurous elements require manual dexterity and can be challenging for some, but are completely optional. This is an adventure playground inside the forest. It’s not all adrenaline, as some choose to relax, meditate, or casually forest bathe in the natural pools. There are plenty of photographic opportunities. A tropical fruit spread is included as a light snack. Overall, this experience caters to the adventurous spirit, nature lovers, and fuels wanderlust.
