Must do Puerto Rico Excursion - Rafael was a great tour guide. Sun Bay beach on Vieques was one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen! The dinner spot in El Malencon had a beautiful view of the sunset and great food. But the bio bay kayak was unbeleivable. We were at the end of lunar calendar and you could still see the biolumenescence well. The kayak guide gave a great overview of the biology of the bay and knew his science. They had a great safety program as well. I would say this is a must do trip!

HIGHLY Recommend--do NOT miss! - A colleague recommended this Vieques day trip from San Juan, having himself had a disappointing experience with a bioluminescent tour offered on the main island: "Go to Vieques instead, the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world, and on an island filled with unspoiled beaches." I was shocked at how bright the bay is--and its bioluminescence increases every year on this unpolluted island. Kayak guide David was fabulous. Our tour guide Rodriguo was knowledgeable and informative, throwing in a side trip to gorgeous Sun Bay, where all of us took unbelievable Christmas card photos/screen wallpaper photos. Expect roaming horses, roosters, and the most amazing dinner at seaside restaurants like Bananas--home of the best mofongo on the planet. Don't miss this one--it will be the highlight of your vacation to Puerto Rico.

Great way to see Mosquito Bay when staying in San Juan - The Mosquito Bay bioluminescent kayaking tour is fantastic and I really enjoyed the tour. Everything worked out fine schedule wise and you get the same tour in the bio bay as if you were booking it separately. Having the ferry / transportation arranged in Vieques is fantastic and takes off all the hassle of putting it together by yourself and you don’t have to stay overnight. You’ll get the bio bay tour, time for dinner and about an hour to stay at a beach once in Vieques. Totally recommend!

Great bay, rushed other parts - Bio bay was amazing and I would recommend to go to this one instead of other ones on the main island. The beach and food part were rushed though so we were not able to stay long at the beach and had to rush dinner in a restaurant we didn't choose.

Fantastic bioluminescence experience, but exhausting logistics - The bioluminescence bay experience was magnificent - a truly unique experience, and fully recommended to anyone visiting the area. Our tour guide, Rafael, was also very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful throughout the tour. We were picked up at the agreed time/place, transported to Vieques via van and ferry, and returned back safely after the experience. The staff at JAK, who facilitated the bay tour, was also fantastic: they made us feel safe, looked after, and informed throughout. However, the itinerary itself was an incredibly long 14 hours, out of which only 1h was truly worth it (the bioluminescent bay). The rest of the time was consumed by transportation, wait times, and quite average (and strangely enough after all the wait times, rushed) stops at a beach and restaurant. All in all, it was a lot of waiting and traveling around, for only one really memorable hour. I would recommend the tour operator for this experience to review the logistics, itinerary and timings, as this tour felt overall inefficient and exhausting outside of the one fantastic hour at the bay.

Don’t Bother Figuring It Out – Book Elsewhere! - This is a very interesting case. The company, I Ventures, is alive and well. Yet, for this particular day trip, there are only two reviews here. I tried my luck and failed. (Before this day trip, I had booked a Culebra Swim with Turtles Adventure and Flamenco Beach by Ferry with the same company. Received confirmation, a reminder on the eve of the adventure, a text with the guide’s name (Rafael –I presume the one that got so many positive reviews) and phone number. Then, as the excursion first got moved one hour to the left and then got cancelled altogether for reasons beyond the company’s control, I got emails and texts. When I called and texted Rafael to confirm, he responded with a text that yes, everything had been cancelled.) After such a positive experience, it was surprising to see none of this occurring for the Vieques Bio Bay + Beach Day Trip by Ferry from San Juan. Booked with the same company on the very same website, mind you. A reminder on the day before – yes. But no text, no guide’s contact info. But then, as that preceding day rolled on (and the trip was due next day, BUT in the afternoon, and I wanted to either be picked up in the small town where I was staying or go straight to the ferry myself instead of wasting three hours driving to the supposed group meeting location in San Juan, which meant departing much earlier), still nothing. I tried calling the number on the confirmation page. First, a recording in a female voice suggesting that I either email or text them. No options. No option to get through to a live person. And then a recording in Spanish in such a poor quality that I was unable to make a single word out. And it was already the afternoon of the day preceding the one for the trip. If I sent a text or an email, no one would probably respond because of the end of the work day. Which meant that it may be too late for me to leave for San Juan by the time I received an answer until the next morning (if I were still to go to San Juan). Obviously, one wants to be able to plan ahead. So I decided to call Rafael. Rafael was great. Not only did Rafael pick up the phone answering my unknown number, put down my phone number and name and understood my predicament, but also promised (and did it!) to call the office and get a response. So I got one response through him and then an email into my inbox. Funny, my inbox shows the cancellation notice coming in just two hours after the reminder email. I also got a text. The text named the fact that a total of six people had failed to be reached, hence the confirmation. Really surprised at that, since this is the height of the tourist season, holidays and kids still on their break. When I tried to search for a similar excursion, but in Fajardo Bay, not a single spot was available. But, to my consolation, a company website read that the chance of seeing bioluminescence on those few days left was minimum, so I hadn’t probably lost a lot. Conclusion: don’t know what is going on with the Vieques BioBay excursion offered by I Ventures (as opposite to the Culebra Swim) and why there are only two reviews (so different from a multitude of them for the Culebra Swim), but just don’t bother. Look elsewhere. As a final note, both trips were promptly refunded, so no issues here.

THEY CANCELLED LAST MINUTE! Where is my refund? They said I’d be refunded. Please let me know how I get my refund - They cancelled the night before saying not enough people signed up. Where is my $445?! that cost us an extra night in a hotel, extra day of missed work, and a major annoyance after this was supposed to be the highlight of our trip

Be warned - They canceled the tour on us with less than 48 hours of notice, and almost less than 24 hours. No reasons provided and now we have a big hassle on our hands to try to organize a last minute replacement. Zero help or assistance was offered in rebooking. This is also the only ferry tour on the site for this activity... Save yourself the trouble and please be warned about "I Ventures". I see other reviews say that they've cancel without notice too, so it's not an isolated thing.
