Great tour! - David was a friendly, engaging and knowledgable tour guide! There wasn't a question we asked that he didn't know the answer to. We were a bit crunched for time so David efficiently toured us around the temples, sharing the highlights, while being very cognizant of our schedule. We did a quick tour of the Basilica, which was truly stunning. I would highly recommend taking this tour with David!

What a perfect day - Juan, our guide, was amazing. He took us throughout the pre Aztec ruins and Guadalupe Basilica. My wife and I booked this tour and had 0 regrets. Juan took us to areas we didn’t know exhisted and had ample knowledge. He was so aware of the background and geographical history that we kept asking questions. His car was almost new, clean, safe driving, and prompt pickup/drop off. I 100% recommend Juan and his colleagues. My wife and I will bring our parents on this tour soon.

Birthday to Remember in Mexico City! - This is my first ever review on TripAdvisor, and I had a great time on my birthday doing a solo private tour with Juan to go see Teotihuacan Pyramids and Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. I requested that he pick me up at my hotel (Hyatt Regency Insurgentes) which is 6.5km (4 miles) south of the Palacio de Bellas Artes. I asked that he come at 8am and he was there in his SUV a little before 8am. He didn't text or email me before the trip so I sent him a message on TripAdvisor and he was able to spot me. Once in his car, it took almost an hour to get past the downtown part of the city (this was on a Thursday). Then, once we got through downtown it was probably at most an hour to arrive at the pyramids. He drives halfway around the park to take you to the entrance where the museum is. It's great that there is basically no one over there so not only is it a private tour, but there's no one else around you. Once inside the museum, it is small, and actually the best pieces of the museum are at the Anthropology Museum in Mexico City. For what the museum has to offer it was fine though. It was eye opening to see all of the skulls (especially the baby one) and all of the artifacts. I feel like we spent maybe 30 minutes here which was enough for me. Then, we walked to the Pyramid of the sun. It is huge, way bigger than it looks in pictures. Unfortunately, you can't walk up the pyramids anymore since COVID. However, I'm not sure you would want to as it is super steep and no handrails. While outside and the entire time he's giving you history. Also, I traveled by myself so he was able to take any photos that I asked of him. He'll take as many as you ask him to. I enjoyed all of the commentary, and then we walked to the pyramid of the moon. We took more pictures over there, and then he went back to get the car while I took some pics on my own and went through some of the underground houses. I probably had 30 minutes to do whatever. Up next, he picked me up, and drove me to the area off the beaten path where there are well preserved murals. Exactly no one else was there. This was super cool because you got to walk into the original houses of where people lived, and got to see murals that are still very well preserved. I was surprised that there was no security over there, no glass covering these artifacts, nothing just me and Juan wandering around. After that we went to the Feathered Serpent Pyramid. This was really the highlight of the tour. It's impossible to see walking up and you think it is just a small pyramid, but behind the pyramid is a perfectly preserved pyramid that still has the serpents and animals coming out of it. This was super cool. I had him take more pics of me here, and there's a good pic looking back at the sun temple. It's a little dangerous walking up and down these pyramids as I wear a size 13 shoe and there are zero handrails. If you fall, you seriously, might die. Next, he asked me where I wanted to go to lunch. Typically in any city I go to I try to eat at their fanciest fine dining spots, or most scenic restaurants. I asked him about La Gruta and he said it was more on the expensive side. I told him, I don't care about price, I want a cool experience. So we went to La Gruta. This is the restaurant inside of the cave. He told me that basically anyone that has ever been famous or important in Mexico City has eaten there. It was awesome. The food was average, but the experience is great. I had 2 margaritas (phenomenal 10/10), a ribeye (think Outback Steakhouse), guac (very good), quesadillas (ok), and he had fajitas. Total bill was 2,048 Mexican Pesos or $105 as I bought his lunch. The experience was well worth it to me. Once again, at the very least go to get margaritas. This took us about an hour and 15 minutes to eat. Up next, we drove to Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe which took about 45 minutes. While here he gave me more history, and we took more photos. The Basilica is crazy because it is like walking into a church on incline. I've never been anywhere else like it. The more modern Basilica is cool too as he'll explain the famous cloak behind the stage. After all of this he drove me back to my hotel. I think I got back around 4:30pm. Other pluses: -Drives a brand new SUV -a/c works great -Can talk to you about anything: life, corruption, cool spots, food -Very flexible and will do what you want to do -Zero scammy mezcal tasting or stops where I didn't want to go -Private, literally just me -Wasn't on his phone or inattentive -Well traveled himself My Mistake: -It was 70 degrees and overcast in Mexico City, but once you get to the pyramids it was easily 15 degrees hotter and sunny. I got sunburned.

Memorable Experience - This was a fantastic tour! Our guide, David, was very knowledgeable, engaging and personable! The pyramids were very interesting and going to La Gruta for lunch was a real treat. The food was excellent and cave experience one of our highlights of the tour. Also, David’s expertise made our visit to the Basilica truly special.

Amazing private tour! - This is an amazing private tour. David is so knowledgeable. There were two of us picked up at our house, and taken to pyramids. He drove us from main site down to end of pyramids. You can walk as much or a little as your group needs. Took us past all the tourist trap stuff. Next stop was the basilica. Again, David catered to what we wanted to see and has an amazing knowledge of this entire complex. Didn’t overwhelm us with info but gave all the important highlights, but went into detail about everything we wanted to know more about. Can’t say enough about how good this tour is. it’s worth every penny and more!
