Awesome experience - Miguel took us outside of the city to a mescal ranch. Very educational. Was able to learn the traditional method of making mescal followed by a tasting. Miguel is very knowledgeable and made the whole experience comfortable as well as educational. Highly recommend.

Mescal Tour Showcased the pride of the People. - This tour took place a little ways outside of historic downtown San Luis Potosi. Miguel, our same tour guide from the Pedestrian Tour in San Luis Potosí Downtown Historic District, which I also highly recommend, picked us up in the morning. From the beginning it was a non-stop historical lesson on the people, culture and pride of the surrounding effort. Speaking to Miguel, very much a people person was effortless. Our first stop on the tour included an insider look at how a family preserves the old tradition and recipe that is Campanilla Mescal. Miguel even took the time to show us how to properly savor the individual notes of the Mescal. Our second stop was a look into the makings of pluque, a tradition of harvesting and fermenting the agave nectar. Thank you soo much Miguel for the experience. I highly recommend!

A pleasant and unforgettable experience - We loved it! It was an unforgettable and unique experience. We went to San Luis Potosí to visit family and took out a day to tour. This walk opened up knowledge to a region of the state that we did not know and very nice people. We liked that, in addition to tasting mezcales from different Master Mezcaleros, the Guide shared history related to the region. We also had the pleasure of meeting people who preserve the tradition of the ancient mezcal, collecting honey water and making pulque.

Highly Recommend - I booked this trip not really knowing what to expect and the adventure was so delightful, I may book again upon my next visit in March because there is so much to see and learn! Miguel is a dynamic and passionate host who will skillfully weave fascinating Mexican history into the journey as you ascend into the mountains away from the hustle and bustle of San Luis Potosi. Miguel is a great conversationalist and time will fly by! It was lovely meeting this distilling family and humbling to observe their love and dedication in creating their mezcal. Miguel’s mezcal tasting certainly instilled a new appreciation for really(!) tasting mezcal (and other spirits) with unique ways to open one’s senses with which I was unfamiliar. We continued our journey to visit another family (including the darling 95-year-young matriarch) where we trekked along side a healer who was tending to his agave plants in the mountains. I loved being able to capture and enjoy the honey water from an agave plant he had recently scraped. It was a fun hike with many opportunities to take photos of giant blooming cacti and towering agave plants. Miguel was thoughtful and knowledgeable in pointing out different varieties of cacti and where to look for the best views. He was quite thoughtful to offer a rest in the shade as he could hear me huffing and puffing back up the trail to our car – 6100ft elevation, whew, haha! 😉 I’m thrilled I had an opportunity to experience such a beautiful adventure with truly wonderful hosts. It’s challenging to capture the energy and the spirit of the day and communicate such in words. It’s a trip worth taking. NOTE: I was a solo, female traveler on this excursion, in the mountains, in a foreign country, with no cell reception for hours. I always felt perfectly safe and would not hesitate to book again.

A genuine desert adventure - This was a genuine adventure in the desert of San Luis Potosí. We met local Mezcal Maestros, hiked into the desert to harvest agave sap, sipped on local drinks. Miguel really enhanced the experience by sharing his vast knowledge of the desert cactus, local history, myths and folklore along the way. If you want a true cultural experience, this is it!

An experience not to be missed - Excellent tour, Miguel is a true expert in tourism, with great knowledge of the history of San Luis Potosí and the production of mezcal with ancestral techniques. The tour is a great experience with Miguel's personal touch who provides interesting data on the biodiversity of the Guachichil desert 🌵. I have had a great experience meeting Maestros Mezcaleros who trust Miguel's work. Also highly recommended is the experience of meeting Eufemia and David, producers of the best ancestral pulque in the region.
