Amazing first balloon flight - Amazing experience the captain was awesome. Knew what he was doing. We totally recommend. We will be back to do it again!

Great experience. Highly recommended - The ballon staff. It was my first time doing this activity. The staff were very comforting and helpful since I was a bit afraid about getting to the ballon.

Magical Ride - Amazing way to end the year. Very professional team. They were all extremely friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend Explora Mexico.
The hot air balloon ride is a must!!!!! Worth every penny! A core memory for my 9 year old daughter and I. The toast with wine, orange juice and our certificates were a great touch at the end of flight.

Communication issues - Communication was lacking also transportation was very inconvenient
I think it wasn’t clear to us that we will share the balloon with other group of people, even though we were eight people, and they had balloon that we’re supposed to be enough

Skip this tour and visit the ruins on your own - Positives: pickup was smooth and on time, hot air balloon was fun, restaurant in cave was cool, ruins were awesome
Negatives: van was dirty and falling apart, tour guide provided almost no guidance or itinerary (had to keep asking him what was going on), undrinkable coffee onsite, unnecessary surprise stops to sell you pictures and souvenirs, balloon did not get close to pyramids, no information provided on the pyramids or history of site by any of the tour operators, restaurant waiters shake you down for tips even though breakfast is supposed to be "included", not enough time to spend at the ruins due to extra sales stops, tour duration far longer than advertised (9+ hours vs 6), inadequate air conditioning for 2.5 hour ride back to CDMX.
Overall, I would not recommend this tour. All day I felt like cattle being shuttled around to different locations to get milked by multiple people. My favorite part was visiting the ruins, but that was cut short by all of the extra stuff that preceeded it. If you are interested in seeing Teotihuacan, I would recommend skipping this tour and booking an Uber from CDMX to visit the ruins directly.

This company is built on lies. - ¡Do not book through Explora Mexico!
Disclaimer: the balloon flight itself was great, and the company that owns and operates the balloons are great. Our pilot Jesus was phenomenal and we had a great time.
However, all of the logistics before and after the flight, which were handled by Explora Mexico, were awful.
It started with us arriving at 5.30am for our sunrise flight at 6am, as advertised in this booking. I spoke to 3 different employees who all confirmed my group was in the correct location and scheduled for a flight. We waited as people arrived via shuttle (we took Uber) until there were about 50 of us. The bathrooms were not in operation until about 6.30am.
Eventually, groups were taken to balloons until there were about 10 of us left. At 7.10am, we were informed there had been an "error" and we were on the second round of flights at 8.10am. They offered us 150 pesos or a buffet breakfast as compensation, and we haggled up to 300 pesos. We later found out another group received 500 pesos, so we went back to ask for more and left with an agreement that Explora Mexico had a drone which would record us.
The flight was phenomenal. We saw a drone approach us very closely multiple times.
Upon landing, we were told they only had minimal drone footage of our flight... What they showed us on their laptop was footage of a completely different group. They claimed they had never promised us footage, and then refused to give us their names or emails to receive the footage later. Additionally, they had shut down the bathrooms.
All in all, Explora Mexico treated us like we were idiots and continuously lied to us. The customer service was unbelievably poor, and the common thread seems to be that those who booked through third parties like Viator did not receive the advertised sunrise flight.
Do not book with Viator or Explora Mexico.
Again, the actual companies that own and operate the balloons were great, just not the third party intermediary (Viator/Explora Mexico)
