“Highlight of our trip to CDMX! - This was an awesome experience! Our guide, Roy, was very friendly, entertaining, and spoke English well. He shared a lot of interesting information. The Pyramids were breathtaking and he made sure we saw the third one which is a trek but well worth it (you are still allowed to climb it). After the pyramids, we went into town for Pulque tasting and to see different types of obsidian art. We then went to another town for a delicious lunch with a local family. It was fun to take public transportation with Roy as that was our preferred method of getting around Mexico City. Highly recommend this experience!” - Reviewed at 2024-12-01
A Culinary and Cultural Odyssey
The following day, January 12th, promises another delightful weather forecast with temperatures peaking at 70.6°F. This is the perfect backdrop for the Local Culture and Cuisine Tour, starting at 8:30 AM. This tour is not just about sightseeing; it’s an immersive experience that takes you beyond the pyramids and into the heart of local life.
You’ll begin your day at the House of Tiles in Mexico City, where you’ll embark on a journey through the countryside to the Teotihuacan Pyramids. Here, you’ll explore the Pyramid of the Moon and the Pyramid of the Sun, guided by passionate locals who share their insights into the ancient civilization. The tour also includes a visit to the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, where you’ll have the rare opportunity to climb to the top and soak in the serene energy of this sacred site.
After exploring the pyramids, the tour takes you to the nearby town of San Juan Teotihuacán, where you’ll be welcomed into a local family’s home for a traditional Mexican lunch. This is a chance to savor authentic dishes made from local organic produce, offering a true taste of the region’s culinary heritage.
“A unique trip to Teotihuacan from Mexico City - Went on May 9th to see Teotihuacan, and I happened to be the only guest attending the tour! The trip was super interesting and unconventional, we started by using public transport to go from the city center to a bus hub and then took an overland bus to go straight to the ruins - including some introduction to the surrounding area and vendors / musicians live on the bus :D. Arriving at Teotihuacan it definitely pays to have a knowledgeable guide and I learned a whole lot about the history and culture of the place, including opportunities to look at some in-depth archeology in the attached museum. Notably, we also visited a local shop with produce and the obsidian crafts that played a role in the history of this area. The trip ends with homemade Mexican food at a local home, which was very yummy!” - Reviewed at 2024-05-13
