- Canada de la Virgen - Join me on a journey through this ancient sanctuary established in the 6th century A.D. As we traverse this stunning natural setting, discover the three-millennia-old civilizations of pre-Columbian natives, their spiritual practices, reverence for forebears, the archaeological digs at this location, and the studies I’m conducting. My research focuses on the Prehispanic pathways utilized by erstwhile pilgrims and the symbolic significance of the rituals enacted here. Genetic studies indicate that this site was a cosmopolitan place of worship, attracting pilgrims from various regions of Mexico over a span of five centuries from the 6th to the 11th century.

He suggests that the site is likely the revered sanctuary of Chicomoztoc, as mentioned in various native historical records. This hypothesis inspired him to pursue a doctorate in Mesoamerican Studies at the National University of Mexico. Currently, he’s in the midst of the admissions process and aims to begin his studies in August 2021 if accepted. The research he conducted over the past four years, involving extensive fieldwork and scrutiny of ancient codices, has been financially supported by the tours he conducts at the site. By booking his tours, patrons play a role in fostering his research, thereby pioneering a novel approach to cultural anthropology within Mexico.
- The starting hour of the tour depends on the confirmation from the Archaeological Site Visitor´s Center. There is a limited number of travelers aloud to enter the site each hour, from 10 am to 3 pm. We always ask to enter at 10 am (tour starting at 9am) but that depends totally on the available spaces in the Archaeological Site for that specific day. Because of this, it is common to enter the site and start the tour in later hours (11am, 12 pm, 1 pm). We confirm you the starting time of the tour after we receive the confirmation from the Archaeological Site Visitor´s Center.
