Amazing tour with an Amazing Guide (Jalal) - Our tour was the best tour we’ve taken in SMA. Entirely because of our tour guide, Jalal. Her energy and passion combined with a wealth of knowledge and attentiveness to detail and our needs as a group is a good as it gets. We’ve been to SMA about 8 times and learned so many new things from Jalal. Thank You!!

Don't look at the doorway, look through it. - Descriptions of the "Historical and Cultural Walking Tour of SMA" committed us to this introduction for our first visit to this magical city. We are both in our late 70's but love to walk and hike on our own so our tour guide, Aldo, was to be our appetizer for a week of local cultural immersion. It was perfect! The midweek morning was coolish and without the weekend crowds. The distance, Aldo's select places and topics that we could cover in 2 1/2 hours were exactly the impetus we needed to later immerse ourselves in this community. On this Wednesday morning, we were just two couples who happened to take the same airport transfer so we four definitely followed close in to not miss a detail of what Aldo had to say. Since he is SMA grown, Aldo was able to share much feeling and personal awareness of what makes this such a magnificent example of rewards the Bajio Mountains holds for those who look and listen. This is a friendly and welcoming Centro. Most doorways became a portal to an inner courtyard which offered coolness from the unusual heatwave; and also gifted gardens, artwork, the essence of color. This town glows with artistic skills as well as architecture that blossoms in hues which intensify as sunlight becomes dusk. Do not quickly pass a great wooden door; chances are that that beautiful door is open and holds a dreamlike setting to thrill the visitor. The Walking Tour physically visited places that we returned to. Aldo also pointed out or discussed others of his favorite places and neighborhoods, some of which became ours as well. It is an important time for Guanajuato State and Mexico - with elections as well as the everyday warmth that Mexico's people convey. You meet a stranger's glance; and your "bon dia" or just "buenas" is returned triple fold. As a UNESCO site there are no traffic lights in historic el Centro. The drivers compensate with a gracious, pedestrian friendly demeanor rarely witnessed by me. Don't miss this taste of San Miguel; I hope it will be the open door it was for us. Aldo, you nailed it for your recent fans.

A rich and wide-ranging tour - This is such a great tour! Aldo was our guide and was exceptionally knowledgeable about not only the history of San Miguel but also about the geography, the ancient civilizations, the cultures, you name it! His passion for his home was infectious and we came away with lots of useful knowledge. He knew how to pace the tour very well, giving us shade breaks in the extreme heat. Highly recommended!

Wonderful tour of SMA - Aldo did a wonderful job showing us the highlights and history of San Miguel. We visited several historical sites and hear the stories. He also gave insight to the growth of the area. He ended the tour by taking us to a fun market to explore on our own. It was a very enjoyable tour!
