He took us to his home after and with the help of his Sous-Chef, they taught us how to create great Mexican dishes, there was so much food, we left so full of joy and abundance of love. He’s an amazing human being! Don’t even think twice about booking this cooking class, it’s so worth it!

Absolutely great! - One of the best excursions ever! After finding out what we wanted to eat, he led our small group through the market, choosing all the ingredients needed (with explanations and tips), then we traveled to his house and got to work. We did some of the prep work while Jeronimo cooked and explained what he was doing. Everything was delicious, and I feel confident I can recreate it myself. You really get a feel for authentic Mexico with this excursion- not just the generic tourist experience. The market is almost all locals, and it was fun being in a home rather than a boring commercial kitchen. We arrived by cruise ship and although I’m usually nervous making it back to the shop in time, Jaramillo made it clear he took it very seriously and payed close attention to the time. Had to take a cab on our own to the market (easy), he called us a cab to take us back. My husband wasn’t too excited about this when I booked it (he isn’t interested in cooking), but loved it also. Thanks for a wonderful day, Jeronimo!

Great Foodie Experience - It was absolutely amazing. One of the best ways to learn about authentic Mexican Cuisine. Chef Jeronimo took on a tour of a local stall market to pick out the protein we wanted and for him to gather the fresh ingredients needed for the class explaining as we went the history, flavors and meals to be prepared. Various sauces, salsas, service, tacos, guacamole and even margaritas. You absolutely can't go wrong with this tour. Limited to 8 people. Ours was 5. Small tours let you really let you learn and not just observe.

Authentic Mexican cooking class! - What an amazing experience! It was just my husband and I and Chef Jeronimo and his assistant Angelina. To start our experience, we met at a quaint local Mexican marketplace, where Jeronimo took a lot of time to explain the history, tradition and nutrition of local foods and ingredients we would be using to prepare a traditional Mexican meal. He collaborated with my husband and I on what we would be preparing and we decided on our main course to be chicken mole. We loved the market where he took the time to explain many regional fruits and vegetables and spices used in traditional Mexican dishes. Jeronimo is very knowledgeable of nutritional benefits of whole regional foods and conscience of good ingredients equating to good health. As we left the marketplace, we stopped by a small tortilla, making shop. He picked up some tortillas for our meal where we tasted some fresh tortillas and also a sample of some authentic regional chorizo. We then took a short taxi ride to his home where we began our cooking lesson. We made several types of salsas some spicy to my husband‘s liking with habanero, salsa verde, pico de gallo, pumpkin seed dip, guacamole, black beans and more!!! Everything was so fresh and tasty. The pumpkin seed dip was so interesting one of our favorite and the guacamole was simple but one of the best I’ve had! We had a refreshing hibiscus tea to drink, and also black beans with great depth of flavor. And then there was the chicken mole:with over 22 ingredients it was so complex and so smooth and flavor so balanced… excellent!!! and I almost forgot, we got a lesson on making homemade tortillas made in three different styles. We got to eat our tortillas along with the ones we bought earlier with our mole. Our host even made us some fabulous fresh margaritas, and we finished our meal with fresh citrus fruit regional to the area. This class is hands-on, extremely informative and a wonderful way to spend a relaxing afternoon in Cozumel! My husband and I have been to Cozumel many times and this truly is a highlight. We so appreciated Chef Jeronimo’s enthusiasm and hospitality. A recipe e-book is included with this class. I can’t wait to take the skills and recipes I have learned and replicate at home!

Unforgettable. Delicious. Insightful. Special. - An unforgettable afternoon. Off the beaten track on what can be a touristy island. Jeronimo needs to be a daytime TV chef as he is full of knowledge, passion, and great cooking skills. The time flew by. A peruse of the local food market getting to grips with herbs, spices, fruits, veg that aren't found elsewhere. Then a taxi back to the casa where you become part of a whirlwind 10-14 courses (I lost count) of ultra fresh delicious Mexican delights. Spicy. Vegetarian. Pescatarian. Mild. All catered for. Lots of laughs. And lots of learning. With a cook book of the recipes and more thrown in at the end. Oh and a lunchtime margarita that wasn't shy in alcohol. So. Yes. If you want fun. Different. Cultural. Learning. And simply stunning food. Go here.

Wonderful Experience with Jeronimo! - This class is taught by Josefina's son - Jeronimo. Our group of 5 began by meeting him at the local outdoor market and we did a tour & history of the culture. Very interesting. It was a fairly hot day so dress appropriately. We then drove our car back to Jeronimo's kitchen. It is a SMALL kitchen on a side street - no A/C (its open air) but fans were everywhere. It did get hot with the gas stoves but there was plenty of cold drinks. The margaritas and sherbet at the end we so refreshing. We sat at a table while Jeronimo and his helper prepared the food in front of us. We help occasionally. We booked our class at www.cozumelchef.com. Jeronimo's email is [email protected].

Great time learning to cook Mexican food! - We met Jeronimo at the market. He took us to the different stalls where he purchased fresh fruit, vegetables and shrimp (that’s the protein we chose) while educating us on the nutritional values of each item. We then proceeded to their home kitchen where the feast began. Jeronimo was our chef today. He prepared numerous authentic Mexican dishes for us. We helped chop and mix. Our 11 yr old granddaughter prepared the tortilla dough and was really proud of herself - she can’t wait to make them at home. We all shaped our tortillas and put them in the pan. We had a wonderful time as well as a wonderful host/chef. Josephine should be proud of her son! Don’t pass this up - go to the beach another day! Thanks Jeronimo for a fantastic experience!
