Lovely, but too short - I went through the cruise line. Layla was our guide and Jesus was our driver. Both were delightful and looked out for our wellbeing. No air conditioning, but the breeze was nice for August weather. First stop was the historical San Miguel church. Needs a little TLC. St. Micheal deserves it. You could pray for something, tie a ribbon and when the blessing is granted you have to come untie the ribbon! Visited a plaza with shopping and tequila tasting. The tequila store merchants were a bit pushy. Make sure to barter and bring cash. The tax rate is expensive with debit/credit. Souvenir prices were better at the other shops. The beach stop at Cocoa beach was nice. They also had a pool. Less pushy merchants, but more merchants alas. Did a massage and it was relaxing. Again pay cash. The food was just okay. But service was efficient and welcoming. Opt for the fried foods. Did not do water sports. Beach did not seem Rocky.

In Retrospect - I did this tour with 4 family members while on the Carnival Horizon cruise on 05-23-24. Given that I booked the tour through Carnival Cruises, my guard was down. Pros: our guide was very informative about the history of the Mayan's, some local trivia, and was very good with instructing us on the where, when and what to do for our tour. The beach was beautiful and beach chairs were included. Cons: It was not an open top tour bus. It was a closed tour bus. The presentation on Tequila sounded good, but in retrospect, I now doubt what was said is factual. I don't believe the story that you can only get their tequila in a few places in the world; and it is not worth $350+ per bottle. I did not buy any tequila, thankfully. However, I did go to the next hut and bought 4 little jars of "so-called" honey and agave. Although the different flavors tasted wonderful, the packaging was suspect. There were no labels on them and I can't tell what is in each one. Also, they have no website. We were hurried away, and my suspicions did not creep in until the next morning. Perhaps all the "tequila" tasting they gave us and heat affected my better judgement. So, buyers be aware!

Open bus tour in Cozumel - Our tour time was 10 am, but, our tour didn't start until 11:15 am. I talked to several people at the excursion desk at port terminal, but, no one honored our start time. I called viator customer service and there was no option to talk to anyone. I have whatsapp texts with viator team, on the day of our excursion, but, again no response.
