Amazing experience - Raul was fantastic! Friendly and informative. We learned so much and had a great time. Alfredo was also great. I definitely recommend this roar with these guys.

Tequila tasting - This was mainly a tequila tasting tour. The tequila was very good and it was interesting to learn about how tequila is produced. The market part and the beach were really short though it didn’t seem there was too much to do there. Raul did a good job entertaining the tour.

Had a great time but not the typical "hop-on, hop-off" - We had a great time in the tour with Raul. If you are looking for the normal "hop-on, hop-off," this is not it. You cannot hop-off and wait for the next bus (there is no other bus). There were 3 stops (shopping area, Mayan experience, and beach). People were given the choice to bypass the first 2 stops and go straight to the beach. We did all 3 stops and had a blast. Raul did a great job talking about the different places we drove by without making it boring. We did some shopping (and tasted some tequila), then we stopped at the Mayan experience (and ate some tacos), and had some time at the beach. There was a lot of algae at the beach but we still enjoyed the area. It was peaceful, the sun was shinning, and loved listening to the ocean.

My half bad and half good experience - We booked this trip based on numerous positive reviews, but things didn’t start off so well for us. At first, we almost gave up in despair. We had booked the December 27th, 9 AM trip and paid in advance online. We arrived at the third meeting point, Benito Juarez Park, at 8:50 AM, but no one showed up. We asked nearby shop employees for help, and they kindly called the local provider at 529871004493, which is on the tour desciption , but there was no answer. We also tried calling multiple times ourselves. After waiting for an hour, at 10 AM, we decided to give up. As we crossed the street back to the MSC cruise port, we spotted an open-deck tour bus. We ran to the guide and shared our story. His name was Mario, and he graciously added us to his tour group, saving our day. The driver was very kind as well. The rest of the trip was incredibly exciting!

Confusing - It was very confusing figuring out where to go. I ended up on a tour with the cruiseline, Royal Caribbean, and still don't know if that was right???

Find references from agencies offering tours in Cozumel. - I found everything very expensive, from the ferry crossing to the tours. I was going to take a boat ride, I gave up because of the bad service, rough and impatient people. I hired a tour around the island, with a duration of 3 hours. I was taken by a taxi that smelled al, he made two stops on the beaches, one of which I wanted to have lunch and get into the sea, and the driver found it bad that I took less than two and a half hours, he finished the tour.

Spend your money wisely, trust your gut. - Buyer Beware! I want to address a couple things with this review. 1. We booked this excursion through Norwegian Cruise Line. This was our first cruise; we tried make “safe bet” decisions by booking our excursions directly through NCL. 2. Our guide and driver, Francisco and Alfredo were friendly and knowledgeable; they got us to each location (shopping area, tequila tasting, and beach stop) safely. Francisco gave a lot of Cozumel’s history, which was fantastic. He was open and honest about the potential for people being taken advantage of when shopping in the markets and explained the best way to identify a shop that is on the up-and-up. For those reasons alone, I would have given a 5 star review. I never would have thought to research the excursions further than what the cruise line presented. Finally home and looking back, there were things I would have done differently. No one forced me to spend money during these excursions; I will chalk up my money spent (no matter how grossly overpriced and overcharged things were) to putting money into their economy which is solely tourist-driven. That being said, I would think twice about purchasing any tequila from the “Otoch: Mayan Experience.” They had a great sales pitch for the tequila and what they served was absolutely delicious. If we would have left it at that, this would still be a 5 star review. We purchased several bottles of tequila only to later read that their products are most-likely not what they are being advertised as and potentially a scam. So, are we to blame for being naive, sure, absolutely. Is NCL to blame for not fully vetting the excursion legitimacy, possibly. Or is it the excursion facilitators for leading us down a path of trust, maybe. TLDR, enjoy the sights, don’t spend money without serious consideration or research.

Didn't meet promised expectations and wasted time - 1. Not all spots promised in the description were visited. 2. The emphasis was more on taking the visitors to places where sales could be made, so that tour operators could earn some commissions. 3. Extremely long time was given at tequila tasting site, so that people would drink & buy tequila. 4. The bus disappeared from the tequila tasting site, probably to do some more business and all visitors were made to wait an extra 1 hour, causing unnecessary fatigue, delay and disappointment. 5. Before the trip, it was mentioned by their customer support that if a visitor preferred so, one could keep sitting in the bus and do sight-seeing from the bus without getting down, however this assurance was not honored. I do not consider this tour to be a good value for the money and time spent.

Unexpected / unplanned disappearance of the bus in between the tour - The tour started well. However at the tequila stop point, too much time was given vis-a-vis what could be done there, and in the meantime the empty bus departed from there, probably to do some other business activity and when it was time to depart, the bus was nowhere to be found. We had to wait about an extra hour for the bus to get back. This cause delay and cutting short on the next stop points. This frustrated lot of visitors on this bus and caused unnecessary fatigue, disappointment and delay during the trip.

Montezuma’s Revenge is not Dysentery but Swindling. A Total and Absolute Ripoff! - Take the tour bus. Don’t bother getting out because you will be hounded by every vendor. Don’t use your credit card. Your info will be immediately compromised. The jewelry stores are phony. They use phony instruments to show their diamond’s authenticity. Pharmacies advertising US medicines are phony. Purchase of liquor is bait and switch. After a visit to a “Mayan Experience” which included tequila tasting, the tequila purchased (delivered wrapped in cardboard for transporting) turned out to have only 14%-38% alcohol). A rip off from beginning to end.
