The Cullinan kimberlite pipe’s existence was unveiled in 1902, leading to the commencement of open pit mining the following year. As a way of marking its hundred-year milestone and aligning its legacy with that of the notable Cullinan diamond, the diamond was rebranded as ‘Cullinan’. The two largest diamonds adorning the British Crown are reputed to have been sourced from the Cullinan mines.

Wonderful day touring the Cullinan Diamond Mine! - What a great day with Moses”Jeff”. He started out as our guide and ended the day as our friend. Couldn’t have asked for a better guy to show us the wonders of the Cullinan Diamond Mine. Loved this tour!
