Johannesburg tour: a must and let you be guided by Guy Peters - We started our holidays in South Afrika from Johannesburg (Jo’burg) and planned to take one day at Johannesburg for a day-tour. The tour was planned (big thanks also to Daryl Howes) and executed by Guy Peters and we had a fantastic experience. Starting at the hotel in a comfortable mini-bus, Guy showed us Constitution Hill with all the historical buildings and connected museum, followed by the Nelson Mandela Museum and a visit to the restaurant (in the true warm family environment) of Mamello Matsaba where we enjoyed a generous and a delicious lunch with local and/or own dishes. After lunch we continued our day tour to the Hector Pieterson square and Memorial, where we truly felt the importance of all what happened at this square in the young Jo’burg and South African history. Again the history was shared by a passionate guide, who took us back to the true importance of life. The tour was closed with a visit to the street where both Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu were born and the ‘famous’ cooling towers. Thanks Guy and for all of you who hesitate: do see Johannesburg just as stop to continue your South Afrika journey. Go visiting Johannesburg for at least one day and let you be taken by the skilled hand(s) of Guy to assure you have a fantastic experience and a fantastic basis for the rest of your holidays.
