Day 1: Gondar to Sankaber (Visit Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia)

Sankaber - The journey begins with a warm welcome at Gondar Airport or your hotel, followed by a picturesque drive on a well-maintained road to the park headquarters in Debark. This scenic route spans about 100 km and takes roughly two hours. Upon reaching the headquarters, the necessary permits for park entry will be arranged, and the scout will be introduced.
Afterward, the drive continues for another hour before starting the introductory hike. This initial trek is a gentle walk along the northern edge of the escarpment, providing breathtaking views of the foothills and plains of northern Ethiopia. During this hike, there is a possibility of encountering Gelada baboons in their natural environment.

Day 2: Sankaber to Gich (3600 m) (Visit Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia)

Day 3: Gich to Chennek (3600 m)

Day 4: Chennek to Buwahit, Return to Gondar

On this day, the ascent to Buwahit, the second highest peak in the Simien Mountains at 4430 m, will be undertaken. This rewarding climb offers the opportunity to spot the endemic Walia Ibex, a unique member of the goat family found only in this region. As the summit is approached, stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including Ethiopia’s highest peak, Ras Dashen (4543 m), can be enjoyed.
After taking in the breathtaking scenery, the descent back to Chennek camp will follow, where a vehicle will be ready to transport everyone back to Gondar. The drive will take approximately four hours.
