Advancing on our tour, we’ll traverse the historic Roman road until we arrive at the Nervia Valley. Our stop at Dolceacqua includes a guided tour by a professional tourist guide through the charming medieval hamlet, renowned for producing one of Italy’s most celebrated red wines, the Rossese di Dolceacqua. We’ll explore the Castello dei Doria and stroll across the iconic bridge that Claude Monet immortalized in his paintings, which he praised for its ‘jewel-like delicacy’.
  To conclude our excursion, we’ll indulge in a tasting of two local wines - the deep red Rossese di Dolceacqua and a regional white wine - complemented by traditional focaccia and the quaint local pastry known as ‘michette’.

The Val Nervia region of Riviera dei Fiori is an undeniable gem. It stands as one of the most delightful regions within Liguria’s interior terrain.

This area is the homeland of one of Italy’s finest wines that remains as one of the country’s hidden treasures. Despite this secret, it is garnering international attention and has become increasingly sought-after. One well-known fan of Rossese di Dolceacqua or simply, Dolceacqua, was Napoleon.

Dolceacqua, with its meaning “sweet water”, is a time-honored village ruled by the impressive ruins of the Castello dei Doria that majestically overlooks the old town on the river’s left bank. A single-arched bridge dating back to the 15th century beautifully spans 33 meters across the river, leading to the old town.

Its beauty didn’t fail to capture the attention of the famous impressionist painter, Claude Monet. He commemorated its beauty in his artwork. He was particularly taken with the bridge, describing it as a ‘jewel of lightness’ in his journal.
