Highlights
  • Anaga - The Anaga Mountains occupy a large section of the north-east part of Tenerife and consists of coastline, ravines, Laurel forests and villages that are so remote it is amazing that anyone actually lives in them. This whole area is a protected natural landscape, it is breathtakingly beautiful and full of twists and turns that will delight and amaze. Our walk is a great introduction to the area and its outstanding natural beauty. It is full of spectacular contrasts, and home to a wealth of native fauna and flora, a direct result of the region’s isolation and ecological variety. The area’s special climate has led to the existence of one of the most important specimens of laurisilva or laurel forest in the world. This primitive forest dates from the Tertiary Period and is only preserved in the Canaries, Madeira and several islands of the Azores. Laurisilva is an extremely important resource, since its dense mass retains moisture, refills the aquifers (natural water deposits on the island), as well as creating and preserving fertile soil. There are many routes in this area.
Distance: typically about 12 km, with up to 600m ascent/descent, moderate to hard taking 5 hours.

These reserves received top-level environmental protection to ensure the preservation of their susceptible ecosystems. Amazing walk - Would definitely recommend this trip. Well organised and a great walk. Andy picked us up from the hotel, we then drove around 1 hr to the start of the walk. Andy gave us options for the walk based on the weather conditions and group preferences/ability. We opted for a Beautiful challenging 9km walk with 700m elevation. It was tough but the views were stunning. The walk was very picturesque and Andy shared plenty of knowledge about the landscape and wildlife along the way. Andy is a great group leader and also has calf muscles made out of steel 💪 🍳 🍺 After the walk we got dropped off back at the hotel. A perfect day out

Great walk in Anaga! - I thoroughly enjoyed this hike around the Anaga area. Andy gave us a choice of walks due to the weather conditions and the group decided to take the risk as we wanted to experience the rainforest and it paid off. The terrain was not too challenging, there were some climbs but they were definitely worth the incredible views. Andy is very knowledgeable of the area and provided information throughout. A handy pick up and drop off service and small group hike made the tour an excellent option for a solo traveller.

Beautiful goat path - Walked from chamorza (?) through the valley down to the beach. Up again via the lighthouse. Beautiful, almost alone with the goats walking along the path in front of you.

Amazing Anaga - Amazing Andy! - This was a fantastic day. It was very well arranged and Andy (Tenerife Guided Walks) is so knowledgeable about this fascinating part of Tenerife with its amazing landscape and vegetation. Although I hadn't been doing much walking beforehand, I felt very supported and the company was just great. Looking forward very much to my next walk with Andy

Stunning views and interesting flora - I would recommend this tour to anyone who are able to walk for some hours along footpaths in nature. The landscape is gorgous, the flora colorful and interesting even in January, and you will be glad to have someone local to pick a suiting route and drive the car into Anaga! Ready to see guanche dwellings from the past, charming villages and farms, stooping slopes and endemic species both in arid lands and old, lush laurisilva forest? Don' t miss this when you are in Tenerife! Bring a camera, good shoes and a jacket.
