Additional Information

This journey melds a trek with a bus tour and kicks off with a 3-hour hike from Llano del Jable. Always under the guidance of certified guides, we will tread the trail carved out to witness the fresh volcano crater from a designated lookout point. This presents an opportunity to delve deeper into the island’s geological past. Next, we will head to the Port of Tazacorte, home to the latest island expansion, the lava delta. From here, we will climb through the La Laguna district which bears visible scars from the volcanic lava, making our way to the Plaza de Tajuya, a makeshift observation deck during the eruption. Our final stop is the Tacande district, nestled close to the birthplace of the volcano. Through this itinerary, the transformations in the geography of the landscape, brought about by 85 days of the Tajogaite volcano’s vigorous activity, can be clearly seen.

This is how you can get closest to the latest eruption - Since all the paths are guarded this is the only way you can get the closest on foot to the Tajogaite Volcano. However we hadn’t got a lot of time there, sometimes I felt that we are running. The walk there and back was about maximum 1,5-2 hours and it is not that difficult. Proper shoes are necessary because of the sandy surface. We were lucky with the weather, but sometimes it could be very foggy. Wim the guide was really up to date of everything related not just the latest eruptions but the volcanology of the island too. He answered every questions. The other viewpoints was not that interesting but they could be good backups if the weather is nasty up there in the mountains.
