Next is a 10 minute break where we provide you with fresh pineapple & ice water before going back out for the last hour of the lesson. You will be catching your own waves in no time as our instructors are among the best in Costa Rica & make sure you have fun.
We take children as young as 4-our instructors are amazing with children and we have had beginners as young as 75 out. At our secluded beach, we are the only ones there and you avoid the crowded, rocky areas of Tamarindo (we are right across from Tamarindo). Our beach is a sand walk out with no rock - perfect for beginners with great waves as well!
Our class sizes are no more than 4 students per instructor and we offer semi-private and private as well (ask for details).
We also take 150-250 professional pictures of your lesson and video as well (extra). The only surf company in Costa Rica to offer that. Come see why we are #1 on TripAdvisor.

The best! - We had the best time!! We thought we weren’t going to like surfing that much and ended going 2 days in a row! The instructors are great! They are patient and they help you so much, they get so happy when they get you standing on the board and surfing. Johel, Tim and MJ great people!!

Endless Summer - I picked this tour based on the location of Playa Grande instead of Tamarindo, I wanted to learn to surf in an area that wasn’t crowded (if you’ve boogie boarded at Rehoboth beach in August you know why). The parking location was easy to find on Google Maps. Reach out before you go to see who you are looking for on the beach since it is not a store front. We started out lessons on the beach learning how to lay on the boards and pop up, then went in to catch waves 🌊 our instructor helped pick which waves to ride and I got a few helpful pushes, we both got up! The experience was great, the photos turned out epic as we surfed a few hours before sunset. I also enjoyed the snack break with pineapple and homemade banana bread. The water temp and conditions were perfect also. We had enough daylight after our lesson to drive to Tamarindo to catch the sunset and get dinner (and see a lot of people surfing there too) so it all worked out great.

Great experience I’ll never forget! - My only regret about my Costa Rica stay is that I didn’t do a lesson with these guys sooner. These guys are amazing! Their instructions were succinct and easy for a landlocked dude like me to understand. The experience is worth their weight in gold. I booked a lesson late in my stay and when it was over had to book another, they got me hooked! Don’t let this pass you by!

Mojo is the BEST! - Surf lessons with Mojo are incredible! Tim and his team blew our expectations out of the water.
For starters, the quick communication prior to our lesson was outstanding. We were able to book a lesson less than 24 hours beforehand!
We had never surfed a day in our lives but were both able to get up and ride multiple waves during our lesson with the help of our instructor, JP.
JP guided us throughout the whole lesson and helped tremendously. He physically helped us catch the right waves and gave us a multitude of helpful tips as well.
A nice bonus was the water, pineapple and banana bread that was provided during our break! A small but lovely and thoughtful added gesture.
I would recommend lessons at Mojo to anybody!

Awesome surfing experience - Mojo is the best. You show up, there are 1-2 people managing the setup along with the surf instructors. They provide water, pineapple, and MJ th owner even brought some fresh, homemake banana breat last time! Instructors are awesome, these are local CR surf guys who have done this forever. They all speak great english and are good with both adults and kids. If you're hesitating, don't, it's awesome!

Best surfing lesson! - Mojo Surfing is the best! Our boys, ages 13 and 16, had the best time! Tim helped us schedule and plan for the lesson and our instructor, Johel, was great! He was patient and very helpful getting them up and riding waves. The pictures they took during the lesson was definitely a plus. Would highly recommend Mojo! Tim even had great recommendations for a fishing / snorkeling trip we did later in the week.

Best surf lesson ever! - Mojo Surf is the best! They helped make my dream of surfing come true. I’ve tried surfing before with limited success. Mojo Surf does it right with the type of board (classic 9’ longboard instead of 10’ foamie) and incredible instruction. JP is a fantastic teacher and had me up on my first wave. The location is perfect - not crowded and with outstanding waves. I loved how JP kept helping me improve my skills so that by the end of the 2 hours, I felt like a surfer. Joel got some great photos and had lots of good tips on how to improve when we took our break midway. Thank you, JP and Joel! It was a personal goal for me to surf well and you helped me achieve it.
