• Santa Fe Plaza - We’ll briefly discuss our itinerary for the tour and you will learn some interesting facts about Santa Fe, the explorers and the indeginous people that were met along the way. We will begin to delve into some of the history of Santa Fe and the beautiful Plaza.
• Palace of the Governors - We will then uncover some the history of the Palace of the Governors, the seat of power and diplomacy in the growing city of Santa Fe.
• La Fonda on the Plaza - We will uncover the rich and fascinating history of the La Fonda just off of the Plaza. Centuries of some of the most interesting goings on in one of the most beautiful hotels in the Southwest, from its small beginnings.
• The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi - The Cathedral has gone through a lot of growing pains. You will learn some of that history. The first friars, why they came. The structure you see today is just one of many attempts. You will have some time inside of the Cathedral if you choose, if it is open to the public at the time we visit. (Cathedral is closed on Mondays)
• Sena Plaza - One of Santa Fe’s oldest homes is one of several historic buildings in the block. Here you will learn one of Santa Fe’s best kept secrets.
• Loretto Chapel - See the Miraculous Staircase. I won’t give away those secrets right now, but you will learn about the construction & then have some time inside of the Loretto to see for yourself.
• San Miguel Chapel - Oldest Church in the United States where we talk about its history and you will have some time inside.
• The Oldest House - Santa Fe has a lot of locations that qualify as the oldest, the De Vargas Street house is thought to be one of the oldest buildings in the US. You will have some time to go inside if it is open.
