Super recommended! - Super recommended! We took a tour to Hierve el Agua, Mitla, Teotitlán del Valle, the Tule Tree, and a mezcal tasting. It was a last minute plan after another tour operator canceled on us the night before. Around 8 pm, we booked the tour with EnjoyOaxaca through Viator, which started at 8 am the next morning. They were very responsive and confirmed our spots that same night. The van was comfortable and new, and our driver, Clay, was excellent, we felt safe the entire trip. Our guide, Ede, was awesome! The tour was super complete, and we appreciated how well organized it was. Starting with Tule and then going to Mitla was smart because you get to see these places when they’re less crowded, and the sun isn’t too intense yet. The last part, with the textile dyeing demonstration and mezcal tasting, was amazing. Those two stops were just incredible. This operator was very punctual and organized. The trip doesn’t include entry fees to the sites, which is common in Oaxaca tours, so be sure to bring cash. The guide handled buying tickets, which made things easy. We really loved it and definitely recommend this tour! Ps. One tip: I’d recommend skipping the lunch stop, it wasn't the best food. Bring snacks and have a solid breakfast beforehand so you can eat something better once you’re back in Oaxaca around 6 pm.

amazing Oaxaca day trip! A must! - My friend and I joined a day tour to visit El Tule, Mitla, Hierve el Agua, Teotitlán de Valle, and a lovely end stop at El Rey de Martian Mezcal tour. Our tour group was a total of 10 adults in a very comfy tour van with AC/ plenty of leg/arm space. Each stop on the tour was full of archaeological sites, beautiful natural sights, origins and history of Zapotec textile and design, and a nice end with an intro of how Mezcal is made/ taste. We had an amazing time, our tour group was awesome and made great connections throughout day, and cannot express our gratitude for our tour Guide Ede (Edelmira). She was engaging, warm, and super fun to talk to, she also did an excellent job in translating all the important details from Spanish to English for those not fluent in Spanish. Also tons of gratitude for our driver who got us to all our destinations safely and promptly . 🙏🏽 A few tips I recommend is to bring snacks( breakfast is not included) and at least 500 pesos for pit stop food break at el tule/ lunch buffet. Also, if you get Motion sickness, bring some Dramamine/ motion sickness meds, they were so kind to accommodate and let my friend sit up front. Thank you so much Ede for explaining in such great detail the amazing Zapotec history, and rich culture/ traditions of Oaxaca! I miss it already!

Good tour overall, read for the details, TL;DR Loved the first half, tolerated the second half - Fun tour! The Tule tree was gorgeous and I loved that there was a bonus tree 1000 years younger also on the grounds. There are shapes in the bark that look like animals as well. The area around is super touristy with souvenir shops and restaurants so you can find a snack if you need. It was also slightly crowded with all the tour groups. Then we went to Mitla archaeological site which was very interesting to learn about. The ancient buildings feature the Zapotec symbols that I felt were worth seeing. Next we went to the mineral pools which also features a short hike to see the petrified waterfall. We didn’t do the whole hike since we wanted to get in the pools so we just did half of it and then got in one of the less crowded pools. It was super hot out and the pool felt nice and the views were amazing. After that we finally had lunch around 3pm at a buffet featuring local cuisine. Unfortunately there were not a lot of vegetarian options and most of our group was vegetarian. We got by on the staples of rice, beans, chips & salsa, grilled zucchini, and fruit. After lunch we visited a family rug making business where the rugs are made by hand from naturally dyed wool. You get a demonstration of how the rugs are made and then brought into the show room for a sales pitch. They honestly have a lot of cool rugs, pillowcases, wallets, table mats, and even purses in all different colors and designs. Overall I could have done without this activity but it was still nice to see the place. Lastly, we visited a mezcal distillery. This place was very crowded with tourists and if you have kids or don’t drink will not be fun for you or the kids. Personally I was interested in how mezcal is made because it relates to my job so I was engaged. At the end there’s a mezcal tasting and look - I’m not really a mezcal expert but I’m in the industry and I’ve tried some really nice mezcal - and the mezcal was mid at best. I totally could’ve done without this part and maybe done a better tasting somewhere else independently. Overall, I really enjoyed the first half of the day and then could’ve done without the last half. A huge thank you to our guide and driver who were extremely hospitable and kind. If I booked this tour again I would look for an option that only goes to the tree of tule, the mitla site, and hierve el agua.
