Unveiling Huatulco’s Hidden Gems: A Weekend of Nature and Flavor

With clear skies and warm temperatures, Huatulco is the perfect destination for a weekend of exploration and relaxation. Discover the hidden gems of Mexico’s Pacific coast and savor the rich flavors of Oaxacan cuisine in this sun-soaked paradise.

Discovering Huatulco’s Coastal Wonders

As the sun rises over the Pacific, casting a golden hue across the pristine beaches of Santa María Huatulco, the day beckons with promises of adventure and discovery. On April 26th, the weather is set to be clear and warm, with temperatures reaching up to 95.4°F, making it an ideal day for outdoor exploration. Start your morning with the Huatulco Coast Adventure, a journey that unveils the hidden gems of Mexico’s Pacific coast. This guided tour, available from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, offers a chance to relish the stunning beauty of the coastline, swim in crystal-clear waters, and explore the exotic wildlife that calls this region home.

One of the highlights of this tour is the visit to the Cascadas Mágicas de Copalitilla, where you can dive into the refreshing, emerald-clear waters of Emerald Falls. The location is a paradise for bird watchers, offering rare opportunities to observe a variety of tropical birds. As you wander through this natural wonder, the gentle breeze and the sound of cascading water create a serene atmosphere, perfect for unwinding and connecting with nature.

“Saw so much, great day w Javier - We were met promptly at the pier and Javier was terrific. We went by car to 3 viewpoints including the lighthouse, the Huatulco sign, and a look down on the marina and our ship. Loved the town, especially the church w painted ceiling. Javier pointed out many things we would have missed. We stopped first for mezcal tasting, very informative shopkeeper there gave the 4 of us a great lesson and experience w mezcals, mikes, and coffee. Our Princess medallion worked for purchases there - lots of lovely souvenirs. The textile museum had beautiful items, a family coop. Farther down the street we visited a shop with several looms, young men all working with cotton cotton fiber. A gorgeous shop had magnificent Alebrijes, and across the street a small family shop had young boy learning the craft and so engaging. We took time for a drink (I had mezcal margarita, yummy) and then returned to the port area. Great day.” - Reviewed at 2024-01-03

Savoring Local Flavors and Culture

As the afternoon sun begins to mellow, it’s time to dive into the rich tapestry of Huatulco’s culture and cuisine. On April 27th, with temperatures ranging from 77.8°F to 90.9°F, the weather remains perfect for a leisurely exploration of the city. Join the Huatulco City Tour, available from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM or 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, for an introduction to the area’s vibrant local flavors and cultural landmarks.

This private tour offers a comprehensive overview of Huatulco, from its picturesque viewpoints to its bustling principal plaza. Here, you can explore a weavers’ shop, where handcrafted items range from small napkins to large tablecloths, each piece telling a story of local craftsmanship. The tour also includes a delightful introduction to Oaxacan gastronomy, featuring delicacies like mole, chocolate, string cheese, salsas, and an extensive variety of mezcals.

“2nd time around! - Our guide Fermin was awesome! He was friendly & informative with sharing all stops on the tour. We had opportunities for picture taking, local shopping, & street food tasting! The mezcal tasting was also impressive with a variety of flavors for people who may desire different tastes. The Artisan museum/shop is beautiful & the staff were super nice . Also, did not feel pressured to purchase items. This was our 2nd time doing this tour & it was just as great as the first time. Also, Fermin recommended some local food stops, so we returned for some excellent eats!” - Reviewed at 2022-04-04
