A Five Star Experience at least - worthy of Six! - My husband had booked this day trip 'small group' tour to take the two of us out of Rome on a visit to the hill towns of Assisi and Orvieto. The tour, designed for between 2 and 6, people sounded exactly what we wanted. Not sure what to expect when we stood outside our hotel (Hotel Quirinale) - perhaps a mii-van? The sleek black BMW waiting at the kerbside couldn't be for us, could it? But we were the only two people who had booked the tour that day , and from the moment we stepped into the care we knew we were going to be in safe hands. Our guides Maria and Marco (at Assisi) and driver Adam managed to blend professionalism and genuine warmth plus local knowledge of the region which you can't just lift out of a book. Maria's English is immaculate - we couldn't compete with anything like here fluency when we did try a little of our rusty Italian. In Assisi we had plenty of time to experience the legacy of St Francis, visible in the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli and the Basilica. Under the wing of local guide Marco we were introduced not only to the glorious art and history of the Basilica but also to the town itself. Taking us on a winding uphill route though the town, avoiding the crowds, we could see how the lower and upper churches were roots in the hillside. Along the way we were introduced to the best(only?) bookshop/stationer in town - Topografia Liberia Zubboli - a tiny gem of a place that stocks some of the best illustrated guide books you will find anywhere. We were driven to Orvieto, choosing to stop on the outskirts of the town for a simple lunch at Porcellino Divino, a small and unpretentious place specialising in the roast pork (porchetta) and ham which are notable specialities of the region. It's popular with local families on a Saturday lunchtime, and very good value for a satisfying break before an afternoon of sightseeing. At Orvieto we chose to visit the Museo Etrusco Claudio Faina, opposite the Duomo. It's a quiet, old-fashioned kind of place, with some beautiful examples of Etruscan pottery. It also offers a wonderful view of the facade of the Duomo from its upper floor windows. Maria guided us into the Duomo and then took us for a tour around the historic town before returning to the car for the journey back to Rome. The weather was wet at times and less than perfect (if you only want to go outdoors when it's warm and sunny) but we are British and always prepared for rain! We have now returned home, downloaded our photographs and sorted the souvenirs, but are still processing the memories of our special day in the Umbrian hills. A Five Star experience at the very least - we'd award Six Stars if that were possible! Expectations more than just met, but exceeded.

Great experiences that leads to wonderful memories! - Very personalized! Maria, Marco (Tour guides) and Giancarlo driver, were very affable, knowledgeable and are locals to the area. We had a wonderful dining experience (based on Maria recommendation). Walked the streets and saw beautiful Churches. I came for religious pilgrimage and they were attentive to that showing me some personalized sites. I give them my highest recommendation. And would recommend it to my family and friends. Ciao Italo

If you had to pick one option for a trip to Assisi, pick this one. - I have to admit - this is one review I was looking forward to writing. This tour company and their staff was absolutely awesome. I had some great and some not so good tours (eg not worth the money,) and I will put this excursion as the best experience so far. What makes it great, it is all about the people. Our team of Natalia and Chrissy were exceptional in their courtesy, insights, and adapted to our needs. Our guide in Assisi, Marco, was also amazing. This is a long tour with much packed into the day, but also a journey where you connect with the tour guides and others. I was concerned about which tour to pick, do I rely on the hotel or go my own via Viator. I certainly made the right choice. My recommendation for the company is to offer Orvieto as an add on option to Assisi to manage the long day. A second recommendation is to partner with some restaurants and to include lunch in the price for a real - outside of Rome, rustic experience. I saw no minuses in this experience so much so that we recommended this to several people at our hotel and church group. The write up description of the tour cannot articulate the amazing experience this company offers.

Memorable and magical tour ! - The most memorable part of this tour was our tour guide Marie , an informative and gracious lady who is willing to share her knowledge and love of the Umbrian region. We started in the picturesque city of Orvieto, home of St Claire, faithful follower of St. Francis. She recommended a wonderful Cafe where we had the best lunch of the week , delicious ! On to Assisi the home and burial place of St. Francis , the beloved Saint known and loved worldwide. With Marie and the capable driving of Pietro our tour was memorable, informative and magical . Special thanks to Marco an extraordinarily pleasant man who portrayed the real meaning of St. Francis
