Highlights
  • Santa Maria - The first stop is Santa Maria, the pier. This is where the fishing boats arrive at the pier in the morning. The fish are cleaned and sold on the pier. A beautiful scene to see. We drive through the local streets and go to the vegetable market. We end at kite beach.
  • Murdeira - We visit the small village of Murdeira.
  • Palmeira - We go to a school, there is time to shop for souvenirs and we see fishermen at work.
  • Buracona: The Blue Eye of Cabo Verde Shop - During the tour we also stop at the blue eye. We take a look at the blue eye created by nature. There is also a lookout point where you can see the beautiful blue sea.
  • Espargos - We will stop in the capital Espargos for a delicious lunch
  • Pedra de Lume - We go to the Pedra de Luma salt mine. Here you can float in salt springs or hike the mountains around the mine.
  • Feijoal - Sharkbay! We go to the bay where the lemon shark has settled. You walk a bit into the sea and can see the sharks swimming between your legs. How cool!

Best tour! - What can I say! Absolutely amazing! Took us to extra places than listed. His knowledge of the Island was phenomenal. His has such a love of his home country. We got a real feel for the island much better than a tour operator could have done. Nice small group of people. If you are thinking about just book it you won’t be disappointed for sure. He explained things very clearly which helped as I’m hard of hearing and didn’t struggle one bit.

Everything was wonderful, thank you very much! - We booked a German-language island tour and a half-day sailing tour with Elvin Tours. He has small groups and is very trustworthy. Everything was very well organized. We would book with him again.

Excellent day touring Sal - Our guide, Nani, (sorry if spelt wrong) was fantastic! We sat on outside of 4x4 and he made sure he slowed down along the way. He was knowledgable and very friendly. Saw the salt mines, mirage, Blue eye, we didn’t swim there but you could, went to Palmeira and then lunch in the capital. There was no rushing around and the guide gave us lots about the island history at each stop. Shark Bay was fun, watch out the rocks are slippy! Final stop was salt lakes which was great fun floating… even funnier watching people trying to stand up after to get out. Really good day and thanks Nani

Sal in one relaxed day - Our guide and driver have shown us all relevant highlights in a full day tour all around the island. Everything was explained nicely and we’ve got a good insight into nature, cities and peoples life.

The real Sal - It's really good to get out of the resort and see the real Sal. Also make sure you book a tour with a local guide.

Full day Sal Island tour: disappointing!!! - The day trip to Sal was very difficult from the start. We were picked up from the hotel in an "aging minibus" without any comfort. You could feel every stone or pothole in your back immediately...ouch. We drove over gravel roads the whole time, and a small section of asphalt. We climbed rocky terrain above the slums of Espargos. That didn't have to happen, later we drove through the slums...totally unnecessary!!! The little that would have been really worth seeing was the black eye (waiting time over 1.5 hours). So we skipped it. The highlight of the trip were the baby sharks (but we had to get into the car with wet clothes afterwards) and the kite surfers. We went to the salt lake with wet clothes too. We only saw it from above. Everything else could have been done without. The restaurant where we had lunch...well...but the food was good. The summary: This day trip was very disappointing!!! It's a shame, we were looking forward to it so much. We were in Boa Vista last year, so maybe we were spoiled... Jürgen and Birgit

Disappointed - Not quite what we expected. 9:20 start time. Firstly went to Santa Maria for an hour, to the pier and the market, then we went on to see sea urchins, then spent 40 mins in a boat restaurant! For no reason other to buy drinks. Ticked all the boxes in relation to sights. Ended up racing to a very late lunch at 3:15pm, which we declined. After over an hour continued on to other sites. Ending at 6pm. We didn't feel that our guide provided us with much information on the places we visited. Would look elsewhere for a tour of this nature.

We were all disappointed - We were on holiday with 8 people on Sal and booked 3 tours with Elvin with different people. A private fishing tour (400,-/ 4 people) where we were not told that we had to pay for the transfer from the hotel to the harbour ourselves and we only caught one small fish. We also booked a whale tour (55,- per person) where we were promised 70% whale sightings, but there was nothing to see there either, no animals. We were all disappointed. And we also booked the island tour, which was OK.
