Polestar Stargazing Tour: Drive to Meet Guides

This tour puts you in Pole position and allows the independent traveller to make their own way to the stargazing activity. You drive to meet the guides and the group at the sunset viewpoint, then follow the group with your vehicle to the stargazing point.
The Polestar tour is cheaper and is a good option for bigger groups or families.

Fantastic, well organised stargazing trip. - Great experience, amazing team. Mike and Jamie have the knowledge and passion to create a fantastic trip. We met up with them and watched a glorious sunset with glasses of fizz. Then the big telescopes were brought out. They explained the constellations, pointing them out with lasers, and bringing to life ancient Greek mythology. We saw some amazing objects, including Saturn, swirling galaxies, and ring nebuli. We liked that the groups are smaller than other stargazing companies. This was particularly good, not only on the night, but when they needed to reschedule our trip due to cloudy skies. This meant we went three nights later and were able to enjoy the clear night sky. Our top tip would be to make sure you bring warm clothes! It gets very cold indeed up there. As a family group of seven, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening and would highly recommend booking through Tenerife Stargazing.

Unforgettable experience adding up to a great Tenerife getaway - Great hosts, who definitely add up to the whole experience. Sunset spot is really a memorable one, but the true gem of this trip is a stargazing experience. I've never seen Milky Way so clearly - you just don't want to leave the spot once there :)

Fantastic tour, poorly described - One of the highlights of our trip! Learned so much and saw such amazing sights! The actual experience differed in many important ways from the description here, though—some good, a couple for the worse. Let’s start with the name of the group…it’s not Polestar anything, it’s Night Skies Tenerife (not to be confused with Dark Skies Tenerife which met at the same sunset spot (Mirador de los Poleos)). And let’s get the other big negative out of the way—this is by no means a “private tour” where “only your group will participate”. Ours (on albeit a perfect night following a cancelled one) was about a dozen…in fairness, the other tour (Dark Skies) was about 50., so 12 was nice. Now to the positive variances. The sunset tour start time wasn’t 8 or 8:30, it was 6:30, which works out much better for actually seeing a sunset. We were done by about 8:45 (was chilled to the bone by then but so fascinated by the astronomy it was hard to tear ourselves away). Speaking of astronomy, the write up says we will use the large computerized telescope to look at the moon. While true, people should know it’s also used to look at galaxies, nebulae, planets, and clusters. These guys are SERIOUS astronomers, but with a superb knack for explaining to the layman. The guys were also kind enough to recommend a better-weather night than our original booking, and it was perfect.

Highlight - A great tour for people interested in stars. The team around Steve and Daniele is super friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining explanations about the night sky, good locations. The temperature should not be underestimated, so dress warmly! Luckily there were chubby warm jackets to borrow. Interesting for older children aged 12 and over, provided they understand English well or you translate throughout. Our 14 year old enjoyed it very much, the 12 year old needed help understanding. All in all, one of the highlights of our holidays!

The Self Drive aspect of... - The Self Drive aspect of this trip leaves you on the outside looking in. The 40Euro fee per person was not worth it. We would have been able to most of what was provided without just following the company van around.
