Very complete tour, well worth it! - The experience was very complete, we tried all the mezcal we wanted, great quality and above all variety. You do touristy things but you also see the traditional process of mezcal and how it is cared for and valued. Javier was our driver for two days in a row and apart from being super punctual and friendly, he shared the Oaxacan culture with us and gave us a lot of advice!

Excellent - Tour with enough time to get to enjoy Hierve el Agua. Marcos was an excellent tour guide who not only explained the history of the place visited but gave us a gastronomic tour where we got to learn about the typical food of Oaxaca.

A worthwhile trip! - This was really a great experience! Hierve el Agua is beautiful. Lots of hiking to be done and the water is beautiful. We picked this tour because it allowed more time to enjoy Hierve el Agua than any other of the tours. Our guide, Marco was super. The mezcal factory was really cool and visiting the weaver and seeing that process was so interesting. The woven rugs are wonderful! I highly recommend this trip!

Uziel was amazing - We loved the tour! Our guide Uziel was educated on all the sites and his English was really good. I highly recommend this company!!! Of all the companies that do Hierve el Agua, you get the most amount of time in nature with this one!

Incredible experience - We picked this tour because unlike most others, we would get to Hierve el Agua early in the morning and have plenty of time to explore. When we got there, we were the only people at the falls. Being able to hike all the way down to the bottom of the petrified waterfall and back up to the pools in solitude was a beautiful experience, and we even got to soak in the water before other tourists arrived. Our driver was friendly, punctual, knowledgeable,and adaptive to our needs. We were pleasantly surprised by the mezcal tasting and tour, with a pretty tasty lunch there too. Seeing a home weaving studio in Teotitlán de Valle was unique and fascinating. Can’t recommend this tour enough!

A great half day experience at Hierve el Agua - This tour fitted our preferences, because we wanted to reach Hierve el Aqua early in the morning before it gets crowded. That is why we selected it. The schedule of this tour brings you there around 8ish am and you have 3.5-4 hours to stay and enjoy all area around Hierve el Agua. You have enough time for trekking, to swim and take lots of pictures. if you do not want to spend much time at Hierve el Agua, you may need to consider an alternative tour. Then you are visiting an indigenous community where you learn how the local populations use the plants and nature to create the colors for their textiles. Last but not least, there is a last stop at a Mescal factory where you learn about the different types of Agave plant and its distillery process to produce Mescal. We have to mention that our driver & tour guide was amazing. He tried to answer any question we had and provide us with information about Oaxaca area, local crafting techniques and local culture. If we have to mention something that it can be done to improve this tour even more, here is our 2 cents: 1) The food stop may need to come earlier in the tour and not at the end before Mescal testing. 2) Oaxaca is famous for the good food and we think that Viator's tours have to find better spots for their food stop. Oaxaca dining deserves better representation than average buffets / restaurants. 3) We bought stuff both during textiles stop at the indigenous village and of course during Mescal stop at the Mescal Factory. However, we found both places a bit pricey. Either negotiate the prices or you can find similar stuff at Oaxaca street markets.

Unsafe and not so interesting - This was the only time I felt like an exploited tourist in Oaxaca. I was told the pickup wouldn't go until 20 minutes or 5 people, but I had to wait until it was overflowing full. 9 in the back plus groceries, 5 in the cab. Since I waited so long, I expected to be in the cab, but they wheeled around town to another office and had us cram into their half-full pickup. The mountain road is steep and dangerous so it takes an hour to do 15 km. Spectacular views which you can't see stuffed in the back. We even had one man hanging off the tailgate for most of the trip. When I got there mid-afternoon, I was so stressed about how to get back that I only spent an hour. The biggest pool is disused and has garbage floating in it. The more scenic one is OK but small and shallow. Plenty of stalls selling food, coconuts and beer. There aren't many rock formations and you can see them all in 20 minutes. Cost was 50 pesos each not the guidebook 20, which is still fine. One tourist said they were asked for 10 extra to take the smoother tourist road. I would not want to be on that unpaved switchback dirt road in the dark or in rain. Shared taxi back to Oaxaca took a different route and dumped us at his depot in the South end of town. I was laughed at when asked for a ride the rest of the way. Had to take another taxi (same company) from the street outside.
