Fabulous day out except for the restaurant and food - Picked up on time, Sebastian introduced himself and was very welcoming. We got updates all the way to Valpo on where we were, where we were going and some history of the area. Van was for 16 and we had 9 onboard so room to move which was great. In Casablanca Valley we stopped at a local cafe for a pit stop, where we were given free Chicha to try along with a slice of cake both of which were yum. This stop also has coffee, snacks and marzipan fruits (if anyone is interested) AND some Aplacas in the back area. They were pretty cute. We started over the hills an we encountered amazing fog…the humidity, the sea and the mountains..I’d guess this is seasonal. We drove along to Vina Del Mar for a quick stop at the famous Clock for a photo and then a visit to the fish market to see the sea lions and the local market life. Then onto Valpo. We went on a walk approx 1hr 15 mins..took the funicular up to a great hip area with lots of street art, walked along to another funicular to go down and meet our driver. relaxed pace. Great photos. Then off to a lunch spot which had a fabulous view BUT the food was very average and the price ridiculously high..seriously high, eg CLP13000 for a bowl of garlic prawns (that essentially had a garlic clove wafted over it - no garlic really). The food took ages to be served, was high price and not good. We spent at least 90mins there which we would have preferred to have spent along the shops/street art soaking up the atmosphere. Anyhoo, another 15 min walk to see some more street art, back into the van and then onto the Veramonte vinery. We were able to taste 2 wines, 1 red/1 white…quite nice. Bought 3 bottles for CLP15000 which was good value. Then back to the hotels. Sebastian was really good..right speed, looked after everyone and kept a relaxed but ‘on time’ pace - perfect. Only issue was the restaurant….this need to change as only disappointing part of the day.
