Keep the Altamira museum, skip Santillana Del Mar - The Altamira museum was wonderful. Except for the wonderful church, Santillana Del Mar was too “touristy” for me. The guide was excellent.

Santillana & Museo Altamira - Whilst on a family holiday to the fabulous Santander we used Exploring Cantabria to visit the Altamira Caves and the Village of Santillana. We booked online and the process was simple with plenty of updates, even a calendar invite. The guide arranged to pick us up via Whatsapp (in English which helped) and was there as agreed. Mini bus was clean and comfortable and all information was in English and Spanish. The guide knew his stuff and was very helpful. Definitely use again if in Santander..

Interesting experiences at Santillana and Altamira Cave - The church at Santillana was interesting and of course the columns and carvings were beautiful- but there was too much time hanging around the town which is quite small with a few streets. However it was good we were there early before the big crowds came. More time at Altamira would be better. We were rushed through the museum in 10 minutes before the video and cave portion was scheduled in the queue. As the first replica cave I have experienced, I was not disappointed. It is a must see when you are in Cantabria!

Parking bothered me - Too hierarchical for tourism, I was very upset to be charged in an open-air car park €2 and as soon as I got out of the car and down some steps there was free parking. The paying one told you the posters to get to it... and the free one not a single poster. It's fooling the long-suffering tourist. Of course I don’t do it for the 2€, it just annoys me to be branded a fool. Otherwise, the village very nice to go around and visit.

Historical but very Disney-esque. - Described as one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. Honestly, it looks historic and quite picturesque. But…. when there is a torture museum, a museum for the Middle Ages and a museum about a cave, where the cave has been recreated, then you know you have arrived in a Disney village. The feeling of authenticity is completely lost by the many knick-knack shops and restaurants. And you even have to pay to visit the church. Fine for a Sagrada family, but this village was a waste of our time. Fortunately it was not yet high season….
