Here, a family-run business specializes in producing and selling dairy products made on Madeira Island, using approximately 90% cow’s milk sourced from local farmers. This company started on June 1, 1995, as a small artisanal cheese factory that initially produced only Requeijão da Madeira, locally known as curd. This product is now certified as PGI (Protected Geographic Identification) due to its uniqueness in the country and its distinctiveness to RAM.
- Santo da Serra - We visit another small family-run business that makes delicious “queijadas,” tarts made with 70% cottage cheese, flour, and sugar. You’ll watch the preparation and taste this freshly made treat. Just 5 minutes away, there’s a small tea house with a stunning view over the valley and the sea, where we will enjoy a refreshing tea made with herbs from the garden, an idyllic and harmonious spot.
