Get an insight view of the vibrant art scene of Santo Domingo which has gained an important role in the cultural identity of the country. Learn also more about historical details which doubtlessly have a huge infuence on todays art. Starting the day at the colonial district you will encounter a part of the city where 13 mural paintings are part of the streetscape. This kind of artistic expresion has gained a high social value in the Dominican Republic. Visit the Bellapart Museum, which was founded back in 1999 by Juan José Bellapart, a spanish businessman. His collection holds about 2000 pieces reaching from paintings, to sculptures, prints and drawings. After heading back to the colonial district and regaining your strength over lunch, you’ll continue to a private museum and then a private gallery where you’ll have time to shop for quality souvenirs.
