Phenomenal journey - travel
Phenomenal
Of all the activities we did in the Dominican Republic, this was the best. The pickup in Santo Domingo was punctual, the trip was well organized and the team made everything fun and relaxing. The island is a paradise to visit at least once in your life.

Solo Trip - worth it - This trip was definitely longer than 10 hours, but worth it! I went alone and had an amazing experience. Pickup and drop off were seamless and they were very clear with every instruction given throughout the trip. I saw some reviews saying it’s not an “open bar” or much of a party boat, but if you want a party boat - it’s what you make it. There’s people sitting, standing, not talking.. but you can get up! Now for the open bar on the boat, it’s definitely just someone walking around with a bottle offering a shot/mixed drinks, but once you get off to swim/eat there’s more of an “open bar” set up that was really neat! The food was a little disappointing if you wanted the “traditional” Dominican meal, but still SO good and refreshing after the boat ride. If you have younger kids, they might get bored as it is a long ride to the first stopping point, but it’d be worth taking them for the beautiful beach area at the end. Overall I had a great time and would book again!

We had a very unique and... - We had a very unique and interesting experience with this excursion. We got there well before the arrival time that they sent us. We booked this excursion about 2 weeks before our trip, through Viator in the United States. We were sent digital tickets with a barcode or a link to a pdf to download and print the tickets. We had selected an English-speaking tour guide. And none of the three men who met us at the pickup spot spoke much English. They had a list of people wrote on a Manila envelope, and our names were not on the list; despite having been in contact with a representative from this company on WhatsApp, a confirmation email with a receipt, and the digital tickets. They sat around and complained about how “this is what happens when you book online,” rather than attempting to solve the issue and figure out why our names were not on their list. I was reading over the list they did have to double check, and noticed that someone’s name was “iphone” and they had them down for two guests. (There was two of us going) I was like oh I wonder if that’s us, because we booked online on an iPhone in the United States. They seemed to think that was the case as well, and so we got on the bus to begin the day. There was another duo that was having similar issues with their name not on the list booking online. The description failed to mention that the “short” bus ride is actually near an hour and a half, as the port the boat departs from is near punta cana. After riding this bus for about an hour we stop at a café/gas station to grab a bite to eat. We get back on the bus and one of the tour guides rudely confronts us, claiming we have not paid for this and we lied saying our name was iPhone when it wasn’t. He said we must’ve booked with another company and that we weren’t on his list. Mind you, we were over an hour away from downtown Santo Domingo at this point where we’d been picked up from. So we call the WhatsApp number that was texting us location details (who I believe is the boss). They had an argument in Spanish and essentially came to the conclusion that there had been a miscommunication and our names just weren’t on the list because they “forgot.” Not sure what the point of digital tickets is, because they did not even scan them and continued to claim we must’ve booked with another company and if we wanted to come with them we would have to pay again. Upon arrival to the area the boat will depart from, there’s some walking and waiting. You have to get on a packed small boat to ride out to the actual boat the excursion is on. Then you ride for about 30 minutes, stop and enjoy the ocean for about 40 minutes, and then ride another 30 minutes. Totaling nearly an hour on the boat to the island. The tour guide mostly talked in Spanish and sort of translated some things to English when he felt like it. Was very hard to understand. The island was very pretty but lots of schemes to try and sell you something. We got the massages which were nice. The buffet food for lunch wasn’t great. The “all inclusive drinks” is just beer and coke&rum, and some different kinds of soda. Stayed on the island for about 3 hours and another 1 back on the boat where it rained. The boat is more of a “party” vibe with loud music. Have to do another boat transfer like the one we did to get on the larger boat. The site said 10 hours but the whole ordeal was more like 13-15 hours, depending on how close you are to Santo Domingo.
