You’ll combine an up-close look at Madeira’s countryside with an authentic wine-tasting experience. On this off-road adventure, you’ll journey along rugged trails to Cabo Girão and the São Vicente valley, then finish at Quinta do Barbusano vineyard.
First up is Cabo Girão, one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe. Soak up some impressive views over the ocean waves breaking 580 metres below, then continue off-roading along quiet side roads and tracks through São Vicente valley. Dominated by the hilltop chapel of Our Lady of Fatima, the whole area is a postcard in 3D. Red-roofed farms and villages dot the lower slopes, which rise to green-clad peaks all around.
After a stop at the Lime Route Museum Centre to explore two limestone quarries and a lime kiln, it’s on to Quinta do Barbusano, one of Madeira’s most important wineries. You’ll be treated to a tour of the hilly vineyards with an oenologist, followed by a tasting of one rose, two white and two red wines, with some nibbles.
