Highly enjoyable - We had an excellent morning with Kanae. The market tour was really interesting and Kanae answered our many questions about the great food we have been enjoying. The cooking class was excellent and we have some new techniques for cooking at home and some new gadgets were purchased after the event! Loved every minute. Thank you Kanae

Learn cooking and culture from a local - Kanae was very personable. I was the only one in the experience that day so we walked around the local markets and she had explained things to me and answered my questions. After we were done walking around, we went back to her home in the hills with a beautiful view of the city. This was such a good experience because I got to see what a typical Japanese kitchen looked like. I've often taken cooking classes that are in cooking schools in different countries which have great but different vibes. It's not often you have the opportunity to experience a different culture authentically as a foreigner. Kanae had the recipes printed out so I could follow and help cook. While we cooked I asked her questions about Japanese culture and I was impressed by how much she knew about American current events. While this was meant to be a cooking lesson and we did cook, it felt like a cultural experience and I appreciated my conversation with her so much. The food was delicious and I'm making it when I get home. We made miso soup, spinach gomaae and chanchanyaki. Kanae is super sweet and a great conversationalist. I recommend this experience to anyone who is interested in learning how to cook local dishes or learning more about Japanese culture in general.

Honeymoon - So fun! Takoyaki party with Kanae 😀 Great to try and make typical Japanese dishes. She gave us tips ahead of the day for what we could make and had prepared the ingredients according to our wishes. We started the day at the food market. Kanae helped us explain what things were and how it was normal to prepare the various ingredients in the Japanese kitchen. I tasted almost everything that was offered to me. The fruit from Hokkaido in particular was absolutely fantastic. We got to make miso soup, onigiri, spinach and takoyaki at Kanae's house. Very unique experience!

Cooking in Sapporo - A fun experience where you learn to cook traditional Japanese dishes. We think this was absolutely great, and also got to visit the market down in the center before we went up to Kanae's home and cooked the food. The only thing I missed was a little more elaboration on why it was done this way and that way. Other than that, this was a fantastic experience. Recommended!
