- Odori Park - Stroll through Odori Park, situated in Sapporo’s central district.
Odori Park serves as a green haven in a bustling office area, surrounded by 92 species of lilacs, haru elms, and over 4,700 trees. Both visitors and locals enjoy unwinding on the grass and near the fountain. Despite being called a park, Odori Park is actually a road. In 1871 (Meiji 4), a firebreak line was established, dividing Sapporo’s center from north to south, which became a road known as Goshidori, later renamed Odori. Typically a place for relaxation and leisure, it also hosts some of Hokkaido’s most renowned events.
Spanning from east to west, Odori Park is divided into 12 sections from 1-chome to 12-chome, each separated by pedestrian crossings. The entire length of Odori Park is approximately 1.5 km, taking about 30 minutes to walk from one end to the other.
