Out of the ordinary, well worth a visit... - We visited the sanctuary, accompanied by an elderly parent, on a rainy day that limited other activities. We were welcomed by our guide and a chorus from the 24 🐺 residents. The sanctuary is located just off of the N2, amidst forest and mountains as a backdrop, the overcast weather added to the atmosphere. Wolves are not native to South Africa, those in the sanctuary are Grey/Timber 🐺 indigenous to North America and Eurasia, they would have been imported by the SADF many years back or to be kept as exotic pets. Tsitsikamma is as close to their natural environment as could be found in SA! Our guide clearly has a strong bond with the animals, he took time to answer all of our questions too. The sanctuary is run as a non-profit and mostly cares for pure bred wolves, they are doing good work in a competitive space. We all enjoyed the time that we spent there, my father told me that it was a highlight of his visit to that area 🙂 Thank you!

Thank you - It was a privilege to come here and listen to the devoted guide tell the story of their wolves along with the joys and struggles of this sanctuary. All the wolves looked happy albeit in an ideal world none of them would have been here in the 1st place. If you’re travelling along the N2 book a tour

Great little place to see some wolves - An amazing little hidden gem. We had an amazing tour of the sanctuary from an enthusiastic and knowledgeable young man. This was a very informative and interesting tour and you can tell that the animals are well taken care of.

My favourite activity in South Africa! - Can't stop thinking about the beautiful wolves we met. We received the perfect tour where we got to know every wolf's story and even pet some of them (never against their will!!). Their howl will be forever in my memory.
