- Info Bosnia Tours - The tour begins at the Info Bosnia Tourist Information Center on the main pedestrian street, Ferhadija, right next to the “Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures”. After a brief introduction, the guide will lead guests to the transportation, and the tour will commence.
During the 25-30 minute drive, a brief introduction to the war theme is provided, highlighting important sites and buildings that will later be featured in a short film at the War Tunnel Museum (several sites are mentioned in the description, but many more are explained).
- Pijaca Markale - The Markale massacres were two separate bombardments by the Army of Republika Srpska targeting civilians during the Siege of Sarajevo in the Bosnian War.
- Eternal Flame - The Eternal Flame is a memorial dedicated to the military and civilian victims of the Second World War in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was inaugurated on 6 April 1946, marking the first anniversary of Sarajevo’s liberation from a four-year occupation by Nazi Germany and the fascist Independent State of Croatia.
- Sniper Alley - “Sniper Alley” refers primarily to Zmaja od Bosne Street and Meša Selimović Boulevard, the main boulevard in Sarajevo, which was notorious during the Bosnian War for being lined with snipers’ posts, making it perilous for civilians. This road connects the industrial part of the city (and further on, Sarajevo Airport and Tunnel of Hope) to the Old Town’s cultural and historic sites. The boulevard’s high-rise buildings provided snipers with extensive fields of fire.
- National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina - This museum is a cultural and scientific institution encompassing various fields such as archaeology, art history, ethnology, geography, history, and natural history. It houses the Sarajevo Haggadah, an illuminated manuscript and the oldest Sephardic Jewish document in the world, created in Barcelona around 1350, containing the traditional Jewish Haggadah.
- Sarajevo War Tunnel - Upon arrival at the Tunnel Museum, the position of the Museum and the famous mark in front of the entrance named “Sarajevo Rose” will be explained. After watching a short film, a one-hour presentation will detail the fall of Yugoslavia, the wars in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the creation and significance of the Tunnel.
- Trebevic - Following the Tunnel visit, the tour proceeds to the 1984 Olympic mountain Trebević, the closest mountain to Sarajevo’s center and a frontline during the Siege of Sarajevo. Here, visitors can walk on the hotel restaurant “8” and enjoy panoramic views of Sarajevo, which were unfortunately key positions for the enemy army.
- Jewish Cemetery Sarajevo - Located just below Trebevic Mountain, this is the second-largest Jewish cemetery in Europe. It features uniquely shaped tombstones found only in Bosnia and Herzegovina, believed to be influenced by medieval Bosnian tombstones known as “Stecak”.
- The Yellow Fortress - From the Jewish cemetery, the tour heads to the old Ottoman part of the city to visit the Yellow Fortress, offering views of the Soldiers’ cemetery and the resting place of Bosnia’s first president.
