Highlights
  • Info Bosnia Tours - The tour begins at the Info Bosnia Tourist Information Center on the main pedestrian street, Ferhadija, right next to the “Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures”. After a brief introduction, the guide will lead guests to the transportation, and the tour will commence.

During the 25-30 minute drive, a brief introduction to the war theme is provided, highlighting important sites and buildings that will later be featured in a short film at the War Tunnel Museum (several sites are mentioned in the description, but many more are explained).

  • Pijaca Markale - The Markale massacres were two separate bombardments by the Army of Republika Srpska targeting civilians during the Siege of Sarajevo in the Bosnian War.
  • Eternal Flame - The Eternal Flame is a memorial dedicated to the military and civilian victims of the Second World War in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was inaugurated on 6 April 1946, marking the first anniversary of Sarajevo’s liberation from a four-year occupation by Nazi Germany and the fascist Independent State of Croatia.
  • Sniper Alley - “Sniper Alley” refers primarily to Zmaja od Bosne Street and Meša Selimović Boulevard, the main boulevard in Sarajevo, which was notorious during the Bosnian War for being lined with snipers’ posts, making it perilous for civilians. This road connects the industrial part of the city (and further on, Sarajevo Airport and Tunnel of Hope) to the Old Town’s cultural and historic sites. The boulevard’s high-rise buildings provided snipers with extensive fields of fire.
  • National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina - This museum is a cultural and scientific institution encompassing various fields such as archaeology, art history, ethnology, geography, history, and natural history. It houses the Sarajevo Haggadah, an illuminated manuscript and the oldest Sephardic Jewish document in the world, created in Barcelona around 1350, containing the traditional Jewish Haggadah.
  • Sarajevo War Tunnel - Upon arrival at the Tunnel Museum, the position of the Museum and the famous mark in front of the entrance named “Sarajevo Rose” will be explained. After watching a short film, a one-hour presentation will detail the fall of Yugoslavia, the wars in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the creation and significance of the Tunnel.
  • Trebevic - Following the Tunnel visit, the tour proceeds to the 1984 Olympic mountain Trebević, the closest mountain to Sarajevo’s center and a frontline during the Siege of Sarajevo. Here, visitors can walk on the hotel restaurant “8” and enjoy panoramic views of Sarajevo, which were unfortunately key positions for the enemy army.
  • Jewish Cemetery Sarajevo - Located just below Trebevic Mountain, this is the second-largest Jewish cemetery in Europe. It features uniquely shaped tombstones found only in Bosnia and Herzegovina, believed to be influenced by medieval Bosnian tombstones known as “Stecak”.
  • The Yellow Fortress - From the Jewish cemetery, the tour heads to the old Ottoman part of the city to visit the Yellow Fortress, offering views of the Soldiers’ cemetery and the resting place of Bosnia’s first president.

A must do in Sarajevo! - Me and my fiancée had the most wonderful experience with our very friendly and knowledgeable guide, Ibrahim. We wanted to learn more about the city’s recent history and see the relevant sites and this tour was exactly what we were looking for. Our guide took us around the city to all the places we wanted to go but could not go ourselves and he explained the history behind every place very well. The Tunnel Museum is an absolute must do for people visiting Sarajevo and we are so glad we had a guide with us that could take us through it to explain it in an engaging way. The cherry on top for us was also seeing the old bobsled course from the Sarajevo Winter Olympics, that location was really cool to visit. Lastly we where really lucky because our guide understood our interest in taking photos and our level of understanding the history of Yugoslavia so he told us more details that we did not know and recommended for us the perfect location for photos. 10/10 highly recommended!

Thanks Ibrahim - Ibrahim was awesome, and while I thought I knew a little about the war, I certainly had no idea of the real stories! Was a great experience and proved "you need to see history rather than to read it in the text books". It also proved that history is generally written with one person's perspective! Thanks Ibrahim great experience for us.

War tour Sarajevo - The agency organizes guided tours in Sarajevo and its surroundings. I had the pleasure of visiting the Sarajevo tunnel used during the war, Mount Trebević, the Jewish cemetery and the Yellow Fortress together with Fariz, one of their guides, as part of the "war tour" they offer. Fariz is very knowledgeable, passionate and has told the war both from a historical and family point of view through the stories of his father, uncle and neighbors. Very interesting and informative. I advise!

Best tour I ever took - Our tour guide was a very knowledgeable history teacher and I attended the Sarajevo Tunnel of Hope tour accompanied by him. The things I learned about the war impressed me greatly, he taught us so much in a very short time. Moreover, since our guide came to Turkey several times and lived here for a while, he could speak Turkish very well, and it was very enjoyable to chat with him. When I come to Bosnia and Herzegovina again, I will definitely join Dream Balkans' other tours.
