Hiking tour (Umoljani – Obalj - Lukomir)

Selo Lukomir - After breakfast, departure to the Olympic mountain Bjelašnica via organized transport (including a short break) and trip to the village of Umoljani (1275 m). Rent the equipment and start hiking tour across the mountain Obalj to the highest BiH village of Lukomir.

There is a legend of a dragon, which was turned into stone, in the village Umoljani. It is said that a great snake-dragon came out of the Rakitnica Canyon, 3 km away from the village, and passed through the Studeni creek swaying its way with the intention to destroy the entire village and eat its villagers. When the villagers noticed the danger, they left to the Pošijak Hill, praying to God to turn the dragon into stone. God heard their prayers and even today you can see the contours of this monster in the stone. Because of these prayers (molitve) this village was named Umoljani. Above the stoned dragon, there is a katun settlement on Gradina where, during the summer, shepherds rest while the cattle eat. This is where we finish with the Umoljani part of our tour and start ascending onto mountain Obalj (1896 m). Through the entire tour you will see beautiful landscapes of the mountains Bjelašnica and Visočica. Further, we will descend to the village Lukomir (1495 m) which is recognized as an official cultural landscape and national heritage site of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The stone houses in Lukomir, covered by roof shingles made out of cherry tree, clean air, the smell of nature, homemade food, dairy products, organic food, hospitality are just a few things you can find in Lukomir, which has the following rule: “Enjoy, Forget the fast-paced rhythm of today’s life, Run into the nature, Touch the sky and Feel free.”

The hiking tour is medium intensity. The tour lasts for 6 hours, depending on tempo. Dinner and overnight stay are organized in our agency’s mountain house in Lukomir. Visitors need to bring their own clothing and shoes, as well as additional clothing for change.

Hiking tour (Visočica Mountain)

Boračko Lake Country House - After breakfast we depart via organized transportation on the path over Dugo Polje towards Visočica, where our mountain tour starts. Visočica Mountain is a natural border along Bosnia and Herzegovina. On its eastern side, Visočica is separated by the Ljuta River from Treskavica Mountain. On its south and southwest side, it is separated from Prenj Mountain by the Neretva River, and from west and north, the Rakitnica Canyon separates Visočica and Bjelašnica Mountains. Visočica got its name by the numerous peaks, including Džamija (1967 m), Veliki Ljeljen (1963 m) and Vito (1960 m), as its highest ones. The northern side of Visočica is made up of mountain grasslands ranging from 1,300m to 1,400m above ground, and its southern lower part is overgrown with forest trees.

We will rent equipment and start the tour on the mountain trail from the Bosnian tomb-stone necropolis to the highest peak of Džamija (1967 m). During the tour, one can see many sheep herds. In contrast to other mountains, the cattle breeding on Visočica has been preserved in its original custom. In local settlements of that area, one can taste the most delicious dairy products and feel the highlander life of the locals. We will reach the peak, where a lunch break is organized, while enjoying the views of Bjelašnica, Prenj, Treskavica, Lukomir village, and Rakitnica Canyon. We complete the tour via organized transportation to Boračko Lake.

The hiking tour is medium intensity. The tour lasts for 7 hours, depending on tempo. Dinner and overnight stay are organized at the Boračko Lake. Participants need to bring their own clothing and shoes, as well as additional clothes for change.

Herzegovina tour (Mostar – Međugorje – Kravice waterfalls – Počitelj - Blagaj)

Kravice Falls - Breakfast. We will take organized transport to Mostar, where we will visit its cultural-historical monuments, including: the Old Bridge (UNESCO), Old Town (Kujundžiluk), Kriva ćuprija, Karađoz-bey’s mosque, towers Tara and Halebija.

We will then continue to Međugorje, located within the hills in the southern part of B&H. We will tour Međugorje, which is famous for the sighting of the apparition of the Virgin Mary and is now a Catholic pilgrimage site. We then depart to Kravice waterfalls- a natural phenomenon similar to Niagara’s waterfalls, where the water falls along 150 m from a height of 30 m, creating a loud sound and pearl rain. Lunch, free time and taking pictures on the waterfalls.

On our way back, we will visit the medieval ottoman city of Počitelj, placed on the left bank of Neretva. This is where Bosnian King Tvrtko built a fortress in 1383, and was later conquered by Ottomans from 1471 to 1878, as witnessed by numerous monuments from the Ottoman era. Arrival to Blagaj, the medieval town located on the Buna River, which was once part of Zachlumia country. After the mid-15th Century, it became today’s Herzegovina region. On the cliffs above the Buna spring is the strategically-placed fortress of Herceg Stjepan Kosača, looking over the beautiful panoramic view of the Neretva valley. Dinner at a restaurant next to the Buna River. Return to Konjic and overnight stay in Apart&Hostel Stećak.

Hiking tour to herzegovinian Himalayas (mountain Prenj)

Prenj - After breakfast, participants travel via organized transport to the tour’s starting point of Tisovica (Prenj), where licensed guides will give theoretical and practical preparations. The hiking tour toward the highest peaks of the mountain Prenj starts from Tisovica (1300 m), one of the most beautiful valleys in B&H, which stretches 5 km in the heart of the Herzegovinian Himalayas. From Tisovica, our path leads us through the coniferous forest to the mountain house Vrutak (1650 m), on the peak of the Tisovic Valley. From Vrutak, a marked path leads uphill towards the Prenj peaks of Otiš (2093 m) and Zelena Glava (2155 m), and further leads to the saddle that connects these peaks. From the saddle, we climb the Zelena Glava along the northern rock which is secured with a cord. During the tour you can see wild horses. The Herzegovinian Himalayas (Prenj) is considered the most attractive mountain in B&H. Its peaks are exciting for hikers who enjoy the enchantment of untouched nature.

Skakavac (98 m tall) is 12 km north of Sarajevo’s city center. It is characterized by its exceptional beauty, especially during the winter, when it is turned into ice, forming a winter wonderland. Vegetation around the waterfall is rich with endemic plants. Due to the rich vegetation and shade of the coniferous forest, this tour is recommended during summer days, as an excellent alternative to a stay in the hot city.
