First scuba dive non-certified! - My first scuba dive, an incredible experience- and it almost didn't happen! Let me first say I am so impressed and grateful for the professionalism and patience the two dive instructors showed. I've been snorkeling for almost 5 decades and figured my first dive would come naturally to me but on the water as soon as I switched from snorkel to regulator my anxiety (and breathing) rose tremendously and I told the dive master I might not be able to dive and would snorkel on the surface and watch the others below. One of the instructors worked with me and brought me to the buoy (they have the buoy ring with a rope to the anchor 40' down with a knot every 3'), using the regulator on the surface, she had me do simple tasks- for instance she had me demonstrate 3 or 4 times that I knew how to let water in my mask and clear it. I remember thinking "I've been doing this for years but at least I can do something right". Later I realized she was occupying me with tasks I was comfortable with while I became accustomed to the regulator- smart! I became more at ease, and she pantomimed the question "stay on the surface or" and she pointed to the first knot? I felt comfortable enough to go down, one knot then more. Checking with me regularly "go up? stay here? go down?" No pressure (pun). The instructors adjust your buoyancy vest as you go deeper (I think that's lesson 2!) and by the time we reached the bottom I was completely at ease having an awesome time looking at the different fish and creatures on the bottom. I am so grateful to my instructor, the experience was as exhilarating as the first time my flight instructor gave me complete control of the plane and said "go where you want". The dive was that kind of freedom and I'd be so disappointed had I not been able to go to the bottom. If you are curious about scuba diving and want to try it before going through the certification process (and maybe think you need to take it slow) NAUTILUS dive center are the people to see!

Patient and caring instructors - I was very excited to do this excursion because I had never scuba dived before. My husband is a certified diver. Unfortunately, we weren't able to complete the dive, because I had a bit of an anxiety attack during one of the required exercises. We chose to air on the side of caution rather than experience any sort of emergency. The PADI instructor was so patient and very understanding when I ended up backing out. He was so encouraging along with the other instructors at the company. Suggestions were made to not give up and to try again in a more controlled environment. I would definitely recommend this company for anyone wanting to have a scuba experience without certification. These guys are top notch and extremely friendly.

Among the Best Discovery Dives I’ve Taken - I’ve done over 20 Discovery Dives never having been certified. Based on reviews I was excited for this one as I had not done Aruba yet. I was less than thrilled though initially as there was zero communication regarding actual pickup times at my hotel and they were 40 minutes late picking me up. I ended up being the only Discovery diver with one other person being recertified so with two divermasters accompanying us it was essentially a private dive for me. The equipment was all first class, was the first time I have been provided booties, and the diving conditions are among the best I’ve ever experienced and certainly better than my recent Hawaii and Mauritius dives. Both dive masters were experienced and did a great job with our skills reviews and handling my knee and equalizing issues. Our first dive included a small shipwreck and then second dive off a small pier. We wrapped just as the sun was setting. Except for the pickup miscue this was 5 stars all the way.

Unforgettable First Scuba Experience with a Few Initial Hiccups - We recently did the intro to scuba diving, and overall, it was an incredible experience. There were a few hiccups at the start—we weren’t sure exactly where to meet. The instructions just mentioned the cruise ship terminal, but it wasn’t clear if we should go inside the secure area or wait outside to the left or right. This, along with some unforeseen communication issues on the company’s side, caused a bit of confusion and a delay in getting picked up. However, once we found the location and got underway, everything turned around. This was our first time scuba diving, and our instructor, Alba, was fantastic. She guided us through on-land instruction, then shallow water skills, and finally deeper water until we reached a sunken tugboat. The entire experience was amazing, and Alba’s calm and knowledgeable guidance made us feel completely at ease. We enjoyed it so much that we’re now planning to get scuba certified! Despite the initial confusion, we would absolutely book with this company again.
