Highlights
  • Mercer Williams House Museum - A famous location in the film and novel, “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil,” The Mercer-Williams House is a prominent historic mansion with a rich history. This striking residence has become famous not only for its stunning architecture and intricate backstory, but also for the persistent stories of hauntings and paranormal activity surrounding it.

Admission is not needed for the Savannah Spirits tour at this time. Admission to the Mercer Williams House Museum is separate and can be visited outside of this tour.

  • Monterey Square - Monterey Square isn’t just a pretty face; it carries the weight of history on its cobblestone shoulders. Learn the history of Savannah’s Historic Squares and experience the haunts that still surround them.
  • Madison Square - Madison Square carries secrets that stretch back to the Battle of Savannah – a conflict that painted these grounds with the hues of valor and tragedy.
Legend has it that this very square cradles the remnants of a mass grave, a macabre testament to the brutality of war. A grim scene: soldiers, some still clinging to the thread of life, cast into the earth as their final resting place.
  • The Old Sorrel Weed House Museum & Tours - The Sorrel Weed House is yet another haunted historical mansion on our tours with quite a sordid past. Plenty of EVP and other evidence of paranormal activity has been recorded by many paranormal investigators - including your guide himself.

Admission is not needed for the Savannah Spirits tour at this time. Admission to the Old Sorrel Weed House Museum & Tours is a separate tour and can be visited outside of this tour.

  • Lafayette Square - Also known as “Tragedy Square,” Lafayette Square has seen its fair share of horrors - including one DEADLY sex scandal.
  • Cathedral of St. John the Baptist - The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist is a magnificent religious landmark with a distinct past and a reputation for mysterious, spiritual, and supernatural occurrences.
  • Colonial Park Cemetery - Over 9,000 bodies were buried in the Historic District’s Colonial Park Cemetery. The largest number were soldiers from the uncivil Civil War. The second largest group were those whom succumbed to the raging Yellow Fever Epidemic. In each case, there were mass graves with hundreds of bodies interred with no grave markers.
Stories abound of people seeing ghosts meandering or frolicking within the locked gates at night, of feeling the cold, dead grip upon your arm or shoulder as you peer into the graveyard, or of hearing the ringing bells of those who were buried alive and not saved by the bell. Many have sensed the all-too-familiar pull to the Earth, as if whoever/whatever wants to suck them under the ground.

Amazing Ghost Tour in Savannah with Michael - Michael was an excellent tour guide and host! He provided the perfect blend of history, science, and story-telling during the walking tour. Michael also answered all our questions and provided an individualized approach to the tour based on our interests around Savannah history. I HIGHLY recommend this tour - especially if you want a bit of scary and paranormal but also love a good mix of history and logical context with your tour.
