• Skúlagarður Country Hotel & Restaurant - Upon arrival at Nesgjá fissure, the DIVE.IS guide will provide a comprehensive briefing on the snorkeling tour and assist you in donning our high-quality snorkeling dry suit and other equipment.

You will enter Nesgjá fissure at the designated entry point and snorkel through the fissure and lagoon for approximately 30-45 minutes.

Afterward, you will exit the fissure and walk back to the parking lot. Following the snorkeling tour, you will be treated to hot cocoa and cookies to warm up.

Next, we will proceed to the second snorkeling location of the day, Litlaá river. The process will be repeated, but the scenery will be distinctly different.

After the second snorkeling session, there will be an opportunity to purchase photos from your tour and discuss the area with your guide. Finally, it will be time to remove the gear and continue on your journey.

Both snorkeling spots are located approx 15 min from each other making this combo a great addition to a Diamond Circle selfdrive.

Nesgjá is a fresh water fissure with the crystal clear water that is so unique to Iceland. It is often called the Silfra of the North as it has such similar qualities as the famous Silfra in the South.

Nesgjá is quite shallow but amazingly beautiful. The lagoon is huge and as one of our instructors says: “The visibility depends solely on the quality of your dive mask.” You can see further than 100 meters.
Sometimes we get to see arctic charr, a certain type of salmonide in the fissure.

The second snorkeling adventure is in Litlaá river in approx 20°C water. The cold water erupting from the bottom causes these beautiful designs described as the “Bubbling Sands”. Because of the warm water temperature, we also find fields of strange green algae, plants, multicolored sediments, and a countless number of snails.

• All participants will need to fill out a medical form before participating in the tour. The form can be filled out online
• All participant’s height, weight and age information must be provided to local operator to ensure they bring the best fitting drysuit. The tour operator will contact you after booking to ask for this information.
• IMPORTANT - Participants over 60 years of age must have their doctor sign the approval form in order to participate
• Drysuits are worn over your own clothing. We recommend wearing long thermal underwear and thick wool socks as a base layer under the dry suit
• Minimum height is 4ft 11in (150cm). Minimum weight is 100lbs (45kg).
• Maximum height and weight is 6ft7in (200cm) and 264lbs (120kg).
• Participants must be comfortable in water and able to swim, physically fit and healthy
• Please note that that dry suits can sometimes feel quite tight and constricting
• All participants must be able to communicate in English
• All participants must be at least 12 years old
