A Leap into the Unknown

As a former city planner turned travel writer, I’ve always been drawn to the vibrant pulse of urban landscapes. But every now and then, the call of the wild beckons, and I find myself yearning for an adventure that takes me beyond the concrete jungle. This time, it was the allure of the Gerakina Canyon in Schinos that captured my imagination. The promise of exploring the captivating morphology of Greek gorges was too tempting to resist.

The journey began with a scenic drive through the Greek countryside, a stark contrast to the bustling cities I usually explore. As we approached the village of Skohinos, the anticipation grew. The canyon, named after the old path of Skohino - Perachora, was a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Our guide, Mr. George, greeted us with a warm smile and a reassuring presence. His expertise and patience were evident as he prepared us for the adventure ahead.

Embracing the Challenge

The descent into the canyon was nothing short of exhilarating. With 17 rappel races and a maximum descent of 30 meters, it was a thrilling experience that pushed me beyond my comfort zone. The feeling of overcoming my fears was liberating, and the breathtaking views of the gorge were a reward in themselves. The rocky terrain was challenging, but with the guidance of Mr. George and the support of our fun-loving group, we navigated it with confidence.

Marilena and Mia, our fellow adventurers, added to the joy of the experience with their infectious enthusiasm and encouragement.
