Best trip ever! - Rocky made this trip an amazing experience from the start. He is a funny, friendly and an informative guide. He went out of his way to include special stops along the way adding to the experience. The group was small which made it feel like a family holiday making the experience even more special. I highly recommend booking through Trolls as you really get your moneys worth, I had the best trip ever and met some really amazing people including Rocky!

Our driver Iskren was the glue! - Our tour of Iceland was amazing! It was an active tour, as we explored geysers, tectonic plate gaps, volcanos, glaciers, ice caves, sulfur pits, geothermal springs, lava fields, went whale watching, visited small port towns, and stopped at least 10 amazing waterfalls! We hiked on a glacier, and we had three stellar evenings seeing the Northern Lights!! The best part of the tour was our driver and leader Iskren. He made everything so simple. He always let us know when the next toilet break would be, how much time we had at each stop, and when and where our meals would be. When we stopped at each hotel, he simply handed us a key and let us know what time to meet in the morning. When driving, he would tell us about Iceland terrain, island history, and he answered all questions. Iskren was the glue! He was always so nice and made the trip so much better! When our friends want to know about this trip, we will point them to Troll Expeditions and stress that they need to ask for Iskren as their driver! Susan and David Houston, Texas

Amazing trip and guide - Amazing tour!!! Great places to visit! Our guide Johan was wonderful. He always made sure we were comfortable, knew which stops were coming up and when so we could prepare. He recommended what to carry/wear, where to eat, how much time to spend for each stop. Carried luggage for people who struggled. Told us basic info about places (history, geology, etc). He loves his job, and it shows! Suggestions: wear layers. It’s very cold outside and very hot in the bus, hotels, and indoors everywhere. Bring a water bottle. Food costs about triple what it costs in USA. Note the very small luggage restriction for Troll. Suggestion for Troll: allow larger luggage for 8-day winter trips.

8-Day Winter Ring Route Iceland Tour - Mesmerizingly beautiful and unforgettable - I went on the 8-day Winter Circle Tour, Ring Route of Iceland with Snaefellsnes Peninsula during the first half of October with Troll Expeditions. Our guide was Iskren - best guide ever!!! The tour itself was beyond amazing - well-organized and hit all the best sights and excursions, with full days but without us feeling rushed or overwhelmed, so I found it to be perfectly paced! The small group aspect was perfect - you could explore on your own but also meet wonderful people in the tour and not feel overwhelmed by too many people. Iceland as a whole and each and every sight we saw were stunningly beautiful and mesmerizing, and the special activities were beyond memorable (highly recommend signing up for as many of the optional activities as one can). Cannot say enough about how incredible the trip as a whole was - am a frequent traveler and this was one of the best trips/experiences ever and am sure I will be back. And Northern Lights galore. We were of course very fortunate with the weather and seeing the lights, which are unpredictable, but the whole experience far exceeded expectations and was magical and have no doubt it would have been the same regardless of the weather. The recommendations by Troll were on point - plan for a wide range of weather and dress in layers (including a good windbreaker layer), and bring gloves, hat, and good hiking shoes/outdoor rain gear or rent from Troll. We did the glacier hike, ice cave, lava cave, whale watching, and geothermal springs, among other activities, all of which were beyond memorable and amazing and the guides on each of the specific activities were also incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and engaging. Very well-organized throughout. Also special recognition to Iskren, our guide, who truly went above and beyond and clearly genuinely cared that each person had the best tour experience possible. In addition to generally making sure everyone was taken care of, getting us around safely and to all the sites on time and making sure we had enough time at each place, being extremely knowledgeable about all of the sites and activities and providing helpful tips, he took great care and was very conscientious throughout each and every aspect of the tour. He was extremely patient with our countless questions, thoroughly explained the history and background of Iceland and the people and the culture, including those of the different places and towns we visited and the activities, some of the local customs, folklore/legends (all of which were fascinating), helped us with pronunciation (I had not appreciated how difficult the language is to speak so I really appreciated his patience in explaining it to us!) and translation of the names of the various places we saw (towns, fjords, volcanoes, waterfalls...), and sprinkled very helpful and interesting bits and pieces of information throughout on a range of topics related to places we would be seeing each day and Icelandic history/culture and customs generally. Iskren went far above and beyond to ensure we all had the best possible experience each and every day. This included clearly communicating the schedule and plan each day, always checking the schedule/weather and making adjustments in anticipation of weather issues to optimize our experience (including getting the best photos!), and accommodating different group preferences (e.g., if some people preferred to opt out of certain activities, he would have very helpful suggestions on alternative things to do/sights to see and made sure every person felt taken care of). He also provided very helpful local knowledge and advice on things big and small, e.g., how/where to get the best photos at various places, emphasized safety precautions, monitored the likelihood of seeing the Northern Lights each night in case people wanted to stay up to see them (many of the hotels provided great viewing spots/access), offered very helpful suggestions on restaurants/food options throughout the tour (including Icelandic specialties) and information on even the small rest stops we would stop at along the way (his knowledge and familiarity with everything was incredible), paid great attention to detail, provided very interesting information on the sites and activities we saw and did (such as information on the geothermal springs and benefits, local history of the smaller towns we saw, significant events in the history of Iceland, etc.), and made sure every person knew how to get transport to the airport after the tour (looking up schedules and bus/taxi alternatives to make things as easy as possible for everyone). He also made sure to send us a lot of information on where we stayed, every place we went and sites we saw, recommendations on what to do in Reykjavik, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention the beautiful music selection on the tour bus - seems like a small thing to most, but it was very thoughtfully selected and suited the tour/scenery perfectly. :-) His enthusiasm and genuine care for making sure everyone had a great time throughout the tour was evident and contributed greatly to the overall trip experience. Seeing Iceland is incredible all on its own, but am also very grateful to Troll and Iskren, the guides on the special activities, the hospitality of the staff at the hotels at which we stayed, and the other people on the tour for making this trip uniquely special and unforgettable! Highly recommended!!!
